If you’re one of the lucky people to have had your phone updated to Google’s “Jelly Bean” version of the code, there’s even more fun to be had now. The company’s added the latest Google Now code to its standard search options.
As well as bringing Google Now to mobiles, this also includes some of the newly announced Google Now features that were revealed last night when the company showed off Android 4.2, including Gmail integration and more voice actions, so you’re actually getting a little bit of a preview of part of the next version of Android before it arrives.
If you’d like to try Google Now, and have something running Android 4.1, Google’s updated standalone search app and widget can be installed directly from the Play Store. [Google Play via Techradar]

I’m pretty hacked off with my Jellybean update, none of my default paid for apps work after a reboot, I have to stat them manually.
It seems to be a common problem but Google are sitting on their hands.
I don’t give a toss about the fancy schmancy, I want the basics to work!
I had no issues. Are you using custom rom?
No problems here either, but I’ve also only found one app I’d actually pay for anyway. JB was a nice speed-boost over ICS too.
Nope, stock update for an S3 via Kies.
There are quite a few grumbles about it on t’web but it doesn’t seem to affect everyone.
Probably that touchwiz crap doing its magic.
Without Touchwiz android is rubbish!!!
Speaking with all the authority of a Southern Helm’s Deep resident, I can say your statement is unfounded.
“Southern Helm’s Deep”….that implies you believe there to be more than one Helm’s Deep which is clearly wrong and shows just how misguided your attack of Touchwiz is.
Just the other day I was talking to two Elves that were in a pub near my house in South Helm’s Deep and they were most displeased with the touchwiz.
I’m not surprised because if those elves were anywhere near Helm’s Deep they are morons who don’t understand basic developments in a narrative let alone what is good on a smartphone.
South Helm’s Deep, and I do hope they don’t read Giz UK otherwise they will be deeply offended by your remarks.
Good, I hope they are!
without Elves Helms Deep is rubbish.
Given that Helm’s Deep is a valley to the North-west of the White Mountains surrounded by less than fertile lands, you are correct that without Elves’ affinity to nature and its tendency to respond to them it would be rubbish, at least for the purposes of cultivation.
Here ya go, grumbles galore…

What phone is it you have? and what Apps is it you are running? Certainly when I got JB the week it came out there were problems, since devs had not updated Apps, but everyone should have long since updated. Unless you have a nexus the problem may well lie with the OEM rather than Google.
Things like Swiftkey & my launcher default to the Android apps.
It seems the 4.1.2 is supposed to fix it but who knows when that’ll turn up?
does this happen even after you have set them as the default apps? Obviously a samsung issue rather than Google. You should get a nexus.
Yep.
It also seems to be happening with a tablet I updated with a home brew rom but I haven’t checked that properly.
Android doesn’t like me :’(
I had that with my Nexus S but haven’t had the same issues with my SGS3. The only thing I’ve seen on SGS3 is a slight blip every so often when unlocking to a lock-screen short cut.
4.1.2 did fix the problem on my Nexus S so hopefully will get it sorted on your SGS3 too.
Google do seem to have changed something deep within the operating system that significantly reduced backwards compatability :/ . Bloody annoying, wishing I hadn’t upgraded from ICS, now I have to use Firefox to get Flash, a load of my apps don’t work, and the battery life seems short by an hour or so. And goddam it Sammy, lemme disable Touchwiz.
I’m just glad my next phone is a Nexus device. I’ve given up on Samsung releasing the jelly bean update for the GS2 anytime soon.
just a few more weeks till a pure android experience
Welcome to the family.
Am I missing something? I have had this on my note II since release.
That’s because you have Jellybean you silly sausage. This update brings it to ICS phones.
Not quite…
This update brings the Google Now features that are baked into JB:4.2 to those running JB:4.1
whoops, my bad.
Ah, right. So from a display viewpoint I won’t see any difference, its more with other functions.
Layout of Google Now should be the same, they’ve just added more cards, and the ability to what noise the Standard priority notifications make.
New cards include:
Public Alerts: For emergency messages (And the award for Ironic timing goes to….)
Movies
Stocks
News Updates

Concerts

Talking about google.
Is anybody knows why google is experiencing problems while syncing?
syncing what? no problems (that I know of) here.
syncing accounts.
Im havin a problem to sync calendar on my SG3 with google calendar
Kies Calendar doesn’t play nicely with Google calendar, try downloading the Google made app? I have a GS3 myself, just got JB.
It worked like treat before updated to JB. Now i have info that syncing experiencing some problems.
BTW i dont like google calendar app. For some reason prefer S Planner
Well, the problem IS S Planner, whether you like it or not. Get rid of it, or keep suffering. Sorry to not be more helpful. Jelly Bean massively destroyed a lot of compatibility.
dump shitty Samsung Calendar as EddyCJ says.
I don’t know if you saw me ask this earlier, but I was wondering your opinion on whether I should return my 3-week old S3 for the Nexus 4. I got my S3 on £20 a month, so price isn’t an issue. I thought the performance would be similar, worth the hassle of sending back?
Anyone know when this is coming to the ONE-X for Three mobile as my handset has nothing in the wings and im on 4.0.4 at the mo..
Three will release it as soon as HTC have made it, they’re very good at that stuff. Incidentally, (and check this for yourself, first) I don’t think HTC have a flash counter, so try rooting and running a custom ROM? If the phone breaks, you should be able to wipe and restore back to an official firmware with no negative effects. My S3 has a counter, so Samsung know if I root it, but my Desire Z didn’t. So no warranty loss! But research it first.
My SIII says the app is already installed but is not compatible… =[
