All Things D is reporting that “people familiar with Apple’s plans” say that the iPad Mini will be unveiled at an event to be held on October 23rd.
It’s tough to say how accurate the rumour is: it’s a Tuesday, not a Wednesday, so it would break with tradition, but it could be timed to steal the thunder of the Microsoft Surface, which officially launches just three days later.

It looks like Gizmodo might need some help.
With the huge rush on this site to cover every tiny detail of any kind of Apple rumour, they aren’t reporting on things that are actually relevant. Like the fact that Windows 8 is now available to pre-order, and with that a huge amount of details on new Windows 8 PC’s being released.
I know we all like to talk about new gadgets, but to me it seems like Windows 8 and everything involved in it is slightly more important that a giant phone.
I kind of want one now. If it’s cheaper, smaller and albeit lighter than my iPad Mark 2 (I refer to it as the Mark 2), it would make carrying it to work easier.
It’ll be announced with an “Innovative new 7-inch(R) screen”
