Microsoft has uploaded a half promotional, half educational video about the Microsoft Surface’s clever (but expensive) new Touch Cover keyboard, letting us see some of the thinking behind the QWERTY hard-cover combo.
We’ve already featured an enormous behind-the-scenes look at the tech behind and inside Microsoft Surface in general, but weren’t allowed to film the software giant’s bizarre collection of cardboard mock-ups (above) and other early keyboard prototypes. MS was clearly saving the video option to boost its own YouTube account views ranking come the Surface’s launch. [YouTube via TNW]

MS are really picking their game up. Kudos to them, this looks great.
I’m seriously regretting not pre-ordering the surface now. Can’t wait to get my hands on one and possibly the touch cover too. It’s a shame they are online only in the UK, would love to be able to walk in somewhere on Friday and pick one up.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d like to try this. Think Microsoft are really starting to pull some good design out now, but costs and ease at the moment means I need to stick with the ipad. The keyboard is a brilliant part of it though. Shame apple are so hungup on patents, means we will never see one for the ipad.
This is MS making one good idea… the Touch Cover Keyboard, the only thing people seem to be paying attention to. The MS OS really isn’t very good and tbh the hardware is pretty ugly. Don’t get me wrong the Touch Cover Keyboard is awesome but it has nothing else to go with it…. and i can guarantee that a 3rd party will make a Bluetooth touch cover keyboard for the iPad which takes away MS authenticity when it comes to this product.
