People of Newcastle Invited to Mock Apple as Google Updates its Maps Imagery

Google has now uploaded an enormous new stash of aerial images to its mapping database, allowing us to get a slightly better view of the world from above and from the oddly more thrilling and realistic 45-degree angle.

The only UK city to see an update is Newcastle, but it's a good one, with the city added to the list of areas that benefit from new 45-degree imagery, so you can get a better look at that funny bridge it's always going on about from the skies.

Google's also added in stacks of new standard satellite images for vast chunks of Europe, Africa, South America and even Antarctica, as it attempts to underline its superiority in the aerial voyeurism world. [Google]
