Hmm, rumour has it that Samsung are set to release some kind of foldable touchscreen device (perhaps related to the bendy screens above?) at some point next year that will tout a 5.3″ Super AMOLED HD Dual display, and of course, will be Android powered. Sounds rather interesting, and well, pretty nifty to be honest.
Apparently going to be known as the Samsung GT-B9150, or rather simply, the Samsung Galaxy Q, the device will be utilising the company’s homegrown Exynos 5250 processor, 2GB of RAM, as well as an 8-megapixel camera on the back which is coupled with a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter too. NFC, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth make up the connectivity options, whilst the device is powered by a nice and juicy 3500mAh battery. Who knows what flavour of Android is going to be on board, could it be Jelly Bean, or even Key Lime Pie? Who cares, we just reckon that a foldable display is going to be pretty ace. Let’s just hope it lives up to its namesake, and is just as awesome as any of Q’s gadgets.[UberGizmo]

One of these please
Ok
is it just me or do the bottom half of them look extremely like the top 1/2 of an iphone 4?
No,. cos Apple will submit a patent and
* drag it through the courts… (stupid pre-emptive button strike!)
sorry to nit-pick but those screens above aren’t bendy, they are bent. there is an important difference.
i see what you did there
Note 3? User selectable screen size – pull out from a roll. An issue will be maintaining rigidity when using a stylus or finger to scribble or type. Won’t be so effective unless resting on a flat hard surface.
sweet jesus, that would be awesome.
As per link below in separate comment, I knocked this up in 2001:

(A flawed design, but the idea of a display whose size depends on your current needs would be great – if I say so myself having come up with the above idea, Rollo.)
I am well practised in maintaining rigidity while typing with one finger.
It would be a bit average if only the screen was bendy and all the important bits had to be in a box below the screen (like the ones above, I’m guessing)
R u serious…someone PLEASE tell em the benefit of a bendable screen??? And don’t say it’s fordable cause that’s not the tech, that’s basically a clamshell phone.
I don’t see the point. I love Samsung, but this seems like their creating shit just to create shit.
sorry…I mean “foldable”
The advantage that I see is a better drop test survival ratio… Siimply put, if you drop it, it will bend, not crack.
Et voila – from 2001:

Cool, but, is there a button to make it go all flat and the right shape? I couldn’t stand it if I had to use a rolling pin just to get rid of a curve I don’t like.
