Skyfall, the next James Bond movie, is going to have some serious underwater fights. They have been filmed in the only underwater stage in the planet, a 20-by-10-metre pool that is almost 6m deep and contains 1.2 million litres of water.
The whole mechanics on how they prepare and film theses scenes — using high quality underwater sparkers, underwater monitors and dive buddies, so nobody has to go up to the surface for hours — is quite fascinating.
And it’s always cool to see Daniel Craig doing the stunts himself. [Mashable]

Wicked. There’s a good heritage of underwater action in Bond movies, glad to see Daniel Craig getting his feet wet.
Must be very tough going and that’s a seriously impressive amount of coordination. There is a big pressure change in that top 6m of water as well, it’s a lot to have going on around you.
If I was staring in a James Bond film you wouldn’t be able to stop me “getting my feet wet”. This is because I’d probably wet myself in fear the first time they wanted me to do a stunt.
Haha it’s ok, you’ll be underwater anyway.. And everyone pisses in a pool
Yeah, it’s grim.
I take my dive trainees into the swimming pool. It’s almost enough to put them off for life.
It’s great for encouraging them to master buoyancy control though because once you’ve seen the bottom of a swimming pool close up, you will want to stay at least half a metre off it….
Always wanted to get my dive cert but never got around to it. Always had too much fun on the surface I think..
Well, my top tip is to join a club and train that way. You can pay PADI for an Open Water qualification, but you’ll pay more than you would to join a club. The club will take you diving after you qualify too, where as a dive centre won’t unless you pay them more, BSAC and SAA are the main club organisations, so you don’t end up with a PADI qualification, but it’ll be well recognised around the world anyway.
The downside of joining clubs is you have to put up with the people that run them. The plus side is that when you go diving, you can’t hear them moaning (unless it has all gone horribly wrong).
If my first stunt was to jump off a building I would not be underwater.
In that case, there is nothing we can do for you Mr. Peepee Pants
