Obviously the hatred, and determination to destroy one another’s mobile OS, was only one sided between Apple and Google. Steve Jobs might have hated Android, and wanted to annihilate it, but it looks like big G kind of loved Steve Jobs. Just take a look at these hidden tributes to Jobs in Google’s Gmail app.
Found by incepto on Reddit, the Gmail iOS app has some hidden tributes in its App Store listing. Scrolling across to the screenshots shows “Your favourite Steve Jobs quotes” with two listed in the conversation, presumably with many others below.
“That’s been one of my mantras — focus and simplicity. Simple can be harder than complex: You have to work hard to get your thinking clean to make it simple. But it’s worth it in the end because once you get there, you can move mountains.”
As TNW points out, it’s a bloody good job some of the Steve’s other choice quotes didn’t make it in there, like the ones relating to “nuclear war” and Google basically stealing iOS to make Android. Anyway, I’m not quite sure whether Google’s mini tribute was just that, or a shrewd way to curry favour with the App Store reviewers, but either way, it’s somehow fitting. What Really Made Steve Jobs so Angry at Google?
Steve Jobs Wanted Google Search Eradicated from iOS
Steve Jobs Was Ready For "Thermonuclear War" With Google
Yet another article about this dead bellend.
Yes, the dead bellend who people will remembered for changing technology and helped to build it too what it is today. Now go away alive bellend that no one will remember. Have a nice day.
just because Gizmodo commentors haven’t built tech companies and released popular products doesn’t make Jobs any less of a bellend. He was a bit of a bellend.
Wow, you totally sound like you are sucking that bellend
Jog on and blindly buy another apple product, fool.
Play nicely now children!
You need to get out more. There are things far more worthy of your hate you know.
As the old saying goes; if you don’t like it, don’t read it.
A reaction like that shows that apple fans take things way to seriously. You need to get out more and get a life that doesn’t involve apple worship.
I didn’t mention Apple (but since we’re on the subject, my favourites are pink ladies and braeburn. What are yours?), you just seem a bit angry that’s all. So my point was that you could be using it for something more constructive.
Or you could put on some soothing whale song and some scented candles. Whatever you do, do not put on ‘Wales’ song …totally different and not entirely soothing!
Like a lamb to the slaughter.
No. No slaughtering! Bad Pick Suppy …we do that outside!
You and your anger management
PickSuppy, you missed out the r after the P.
You missed out on a sense of humour.
Where do I state I like Apple products? Again just another jumped up kid. I respect Jobs for all he did as well as many other Tech guys out there and who have passed on. Simple.
I almost couldn’t hear the baa’s in that rant. Take a chill pill and get back to your worshipping.
I think we’ve got our first real troll here and he’s backed into a corner and their not sure what to do
The only thing to do is see how long he’ll keep calling us iSheep until he gives up and has a nap.
You may call me a troll, I don’t care but i’d rather be that than a Jobs/Apple apologist. It’s only a brand and a person that you did not know FFS. Take a deep breath, your crusade is futile.
Sorry, You’ve lost me?!
Obviously.
Come again?
Maybe later if you ask nicely.
And I bet you, another ‘alive bellend’ who praises the ground Jobs walks on, don’t remember the man who made Apple possible: Dennis Ritchie, who created Unix – i.e. the base system that every single version of Mac OS, iOS, and Apple TV runs on.
Who said I praise the ground he walks or use apple products? If you like making things up in your head go for it. What a moronic comment, no one can like Steve unless your an iSheep…..
People who have sense didn’t like him since he was an arsehole.
People who liked him either didn’t know anything about him (the general public, really) or praised the ground he walked on. I assumed you were the latter since you were suggesting he was an oh-so-wonderful man.

I’d forgotten how black he used to be, shocking! Oh well, he’s dead now, if he’d have stayed alive much longer he’d have become transparant!
Can imagine him and Jobs having a great time down in special hell.
Imagine if Linux had the market share! Maybe we’d all get along…
Talk to the server market then.
They’re not really a talkative bunch…
Wow, what an idiot. Have you no respect? He changed the tech world, even people with a few brain cells know that. You think its right to call someone that after he pushed the tech world forward? You may not like Apple or the stuff he did but we wouldn’t be at the stage we’re at right now if it wasn’t for his company, touch screen phones became popular after the first iPhone came out… Like either iOS or Android but have some respect for the people who have passed. Hope you feel like a complete moron.
Complete moron? You are the one defending a business man you’ve probably never met to a faceless/nameless person on the internet that obviously doesn’t give a shit. Now who’s the moron?
Anyone would think the fecker was a saint the way some of you have reacted.
OK people, that’s enough bitching. Let’s keep it friendly, OK? Saint, Sinner, Prat, or Genius — who the hell cares?
Exactly and agreed
Agreeing that it should be kept friendly from the person who put this: “Yet another article about this dead bellend.” Right.
Still you
the way I reacted is the way i’d react to anyone talking out of their ass
Anyone would think that i’d offended your god, get over it and move on with your life.
I don’t have a god. Sorry, I’m an Atheist.
Of course they loved him, they stole the whole Android ecosystem idea from him.

Take your pick
The loving feeling was mutual to start with..
You’re trying hard not to show it baby.. But baby, baby I know it..
Buh-dum-ding, buh-dum-ding, buh-dum-ding…
Steve Jobs was Larry and Sergey’s first choice as CEO, but they obviously were unable to lure him away. Google has always had a great respect for Apple and uses Apple computers all the time. In the beginning the feeling was mutual, however the man who “borrowed” (I’m being polite) idea’s from everyone else to make his product got into a hissyfit when Google changed Android to match the new paradigm he had created. Apple has suffered from this stupid obsession and hopefully Tim Cook has better sense than to pursue it.
Quote Jobs: “We have always been shameless about stealing great ideas.”
I still struggle to see what Steve jobs did that was so groundbreaking. He was certainly no visionary. The one thing he did possess – timing. Everything he is worshipped for doing was tried before, the only difference being the technology either wasn’t available or was too expensive to make an impact on the market.
Also he came across as being a bit of a cnut.
Although I think he was a prick, there was no denying that the man was very smart. It’s all about how he managed to turn Apple into a cult- not many companies can do that, and that’s why Apple take in such ridiculous profit. That’s what Steve Jobs was all about; converting people to the Church of Apple, and he did a fucking good job.
I still hate Apple though.
