Obviously the hatred, and determination to destroy one another's mobile OS, was only one sided between Apple and Google. Steve Jobs might have hated Android, and wanted to annihilate it, but it looks like big G kind of loved Steve Jobs. Just take a look at these hidden tributes to Jobs in Google's Gmail app.
Found by incepto on Reddit, the Gmail iOS app has some hidden tributes in its App Store listing. Scrolling across to the screenshots shows "Your favourite Steve Jobs quotes" with two listed in the conversation, presumably with many others below.
"That's been one of my mantras -- focus and simplicity. Simple can be harder than complex: You have to work hard to get your thinking clean to make it simple. But it's worth it in the end because once you get there, you can move mountains."
As TNW points out, it's a bloody good job some of the Steve's other choice quotes didn't make it in there, like the ones relating to "nuclear war" and Google basically stealing iOS to make Android. Anyway, I'm not quite sure whether Google's mini tribute was just that, or a shrewd way to curry favour with the App Store reviewers, but either way, it's somehow fitting. [Reddit via TNW]
