Leaked pricing details from numerous retailers have all but confirmed that the 32GB version of Google’s Nexus 7 will cost £200-odd. Now another leak suggests the old 16GB model will drop to just £160-ish.
Office Depot stores across the US have, seemingly, rolled out the news from today’s cancelled Google event a little early, lining shelves with price tags. They suggest the new 32GB model will retail for £200, while the lower-capacity model will cost £160. Compared to £269 for the 16GB iPad Mini — or £349 for the 32GB version — that seems like a real bargain.
With the Google event cancelled and stock no doubt spreading around the world, it’s unclear how or when Google will officially announce its updated product line. [Droid Life]

Currently £170 for the 16GB Nexus 7 at PC World/Currys plus you get a £10 voucher. Only thing that is stopping me from buying now is the rumoured Nexus 10, if that arrives at £300 or less I think i’d regret buying the Nexus 7. Also want a surface but not sure if I want to play the waiting game.
Yeah, we’ve been expecting this. The big question is is the 8GB model going to be completely discontinued or released for £99?
My money is on it being discontinued, if not it still won’t drop that low as the price difference between memory can’t shave £60 off the price. If it does continue I reckon £120-£130 is a more realistic price.
think google would make a good move by doing that and probably worth the loss they may make in the short term, imagine it, every kid would have a nexus 7 for christmas, googles customer base would rise massively, whilst getting the younger generation invested in android from early on.
would be a sound move i think.
But realistically i thing the 8gb will be phased out and just 16 and 32 gb versions available
I reckon this may have been part of googles marketing plan for the nexus all along. release the 8gb & 16gb, wait till apple and amazon play their hand, then bring out the 32gb version.
Probably why the 8gb version was only available via google play, so the retailers wouldnt have stock that would be devalued when he 16gb was dropped to the 8gb price.
