Why bother censoring the headline if the image has a great big FUCKING in it? As well as the rest of the ad.
I would imagine so that the people who are browsing the site at work don’t get a fucking appear on their browser page just as their boss enter there cubicle to speak them.
But the image that appears alongside the headline still says FUCKING.
I would guess it’s something to do with the fact that the swearing in the image can’t be found through automated means where as text obviously can. However I don’t know why they would avoid swearing in articles, perhaps it’s something in the terms and conditions of those that host the site or some shit.
Well, swearing hasn’t really been avoided in this article. So I’ve seen fit to add back in the missing FUCKINGs
This relates to something Louis CK said in a standup sketch, about people who say “the N word”. They put it that way so they don’t have to say it, but force you to think it. Same applies to people who write F*cking. It’s just bad bullshitting. Don’t tell me you never use the word because you do. We use the word too, as can be seen from the replies, so just be up front and write Fucking, please. Think of your integrity.
I’m gonna go with the fact the guys at gawker don’t want google to hate their F*cking guts… So from an SEO standpoint when you type in Fucking, I guess Gizmodo UK don’t want to be next to all those filthy porno sites! Although If i could get my website to be the first one to pop up when someone types in “fucking” I’d be a happy man!
