After the iPhone 5 leak mega-saga—at this point you can call these renders sneak previews—the black anodised aluminium iPad mini seems like a done deal.
Which is why Gizmodo reader Martin Hajek—who made those awesome iPhone 5 renders that looked just like the real thing—has rendered these images. The more I look at the black iPad Mini, the more I like it.
The white one looks cool too… but then I saw the colour model. I want that one.
It would be a nice surprise for the rumoured imminent presentation of the new 7.85-inch model: iPad Minis with anodised aluminuum backs in different colours, just like the iPod touch.
It’s pure speculation, but it kind of makes sense. The colour backs would make the cheaper iPad mini quite different from the Kindle Fires and the rest of mini-tablets of this world. It’s playful and aligns with the iPod touch theme. And it would certainly help Apple sell gazillions of them this holiday season.
This blue model looks pretty sweet, although I would prefer mine in red.
A completely white model, with the silver polished Apple logo, looks pretty too.
Seems like 2001: A Space Odyssey prop.
Although perhaps the white model will have just a plain anodised aluminium back, like the iPhone 5 and this render.
It could look quite similar to the good old first generation iPhone.
The black one looks GREAT.
Here’s the entire white family, so you can compare the screen sizes. The iPad mini doesn’t look that small, does it?

Why are you analysing renders done by a reader. Are you that desperate for page views?
Also, surely it’s fairly easy to see what an iPad mini will look like by, er, looking at an iPad and imagining it being a bit smaller?
Or slightly further away.
Because any rumour must be reported on, no matter how small or trivial.
I’d like to see a drop test render done on these ;/
What’s with the huge cameras?
Oh.My.Facking.Gawd!!
Another thin rectangular slab, with a shiny metallic back! I don’t think I’ve ever seen such stunning design, especially on a product that may or may not end up looking like the pictures in question..
Hyperbole FTW!!
Completely retarded, isn’t it.
It looks exactly the same as any other iPad. What did the moron expect?
Of course I know this isn’t a real article, just more shit that Diaz shovels for his pay packet whilst he laughs all the way to the bank.
Mr. Diaz,
No matter how hard you try you’ll never develop Mr. Jobs “reality distortion” skills…
part of me thinks that the possibility of a iPad mini might actually have the same screen aspect ratio of the iPhone 5. i think that the ability to run the new iphone apps in full screen would be awesome and as things seem to be going widescreen crazy in apple super ultra portables like the touch and phone i just figure that iPad nano will just follow into the widescreen revolution
While I see where you are coming from, I disagree. For me, a 16:9 display on a tablet would only be good when using it in landscape. When using it in portrait, it just doesn’t feel right. But what would be awesome would be the ability to run multiple iPhone apps on an iPad, like Quasar, but native.
How to make it even more stunning: Rotate the image, put some bg and add an image of girl standing in-front. You get the world’s largest screen tv.
I’m still surprised how you can differentiate a resized image for a different form factor.
It looks like an iPad, just smaller. And it will do the same things as an iPad and iPhone. It will still not do more than android, even if it has IOS6. It will also come with an expensive price tag.
And as per the meticulously engineered and designed iPhone 5, the moment the customer buys one, they will stick it in a case, covering up all the sexy. This is why Apple make their devices from easy to scratch slippery materials, to profit from the HUGE market in accessories such as covers. Note how they are now imposing much stricter controls on the Made For iPhone etc branding for the lightening connector?
Also note how the Nexus 7 has a rubbery back, so you don’t need a case.
Just pointing this out.
I’ve put my Nexus in a case because I chuck it it my bag everyday and I don’t want to buy another one any time soon. I suppose that makes me an idiot or something right?!
It doesn’t look bad but I don’t think you could call the renders stunning. But then again when I think about it anything COULD look stunning before we’ve seen it.
It’s a bit like saying ‘the next Vauxhall Astra could have Ferrari level performance and solve world hunger’ …but it probably wont
I make this the 22nd post solely dedicated to the ipad mini since May this year. This is despite the fact that it hasn’t even been confirmed to exist, and most of those posts are just mock rendering. Honestly, there must be something more interesting to post about.
