Woo-hoo! The iPad 4 is here, only months after the iPad 3 came along and gave us all a mesmerising glimpse of the future. So now the iPad 3 is defunct. Or is it? Not really.
Sure, the unexpected, remixed version that Apple launched yesterday might have a faster processor and that but the 3 certainly hasn’t become a useless old artefact in the past few months. So instead of buying the 4, you might want to spend at least £84 less (that’s 20 per cent) on a refurbished iPad 3 instead, now available from Apple’s online store. You can insert your own ‘keep taking the tablets’ joke here if you like…

I was disappointed to learn that Apple only make iPad 2 in 16GB Wifi/Wifi 3G models now.
I have the 32 GB iPad 2 Wifi 3G which is now discontinued since the iPad 3 made its debut. It’s a shame that mine is no long “current” according to them.
Ah well, I will look forward to iPad 4/5 (or until mine dies), hopefully it’s a while away and hoping that Apple go away and manage to give us more innovative innovation rather releasing minor tweaks and branding it as a new iPad model.
Why does this disappoint you? Do you assign some value to your iProduct being available in Apple shops, and if so why?
No, I was merely stating my disappointment through the reducing in memory capacity than anything else.
Why would they run parallel ipads in all categories? it only makes sense to keep running the 2 as a base, introductory model not trying to compete against the new retina display at the highest level.
Yeah I agree man, it makes sense to keep the 2 as an introductory model. It’s still an awesome product but I imagine Apple don’t wanna be spending too much pumping out different spec 2′s when they wanna be focusing on making the iPad mini the ‘new’ introductory model. IMO
