We have good news and bad news. The good news is you won’t have to wait long to get your grubby little mitts on the new hotness, the Nexus 4, out of Google. It’ll be in O2 stores on November 13th free from £36 a month. The bad news is that if you want it on any other network, SIM-free is the only option at least for a month.
Still, when the LG Nexus 4 only costs £240, SIM-free looks like your best bet anyway. Grab the phone direct from Google, slap a cheap SIM-only contract in it, and Bob’s your uncle you’ll be living the Android 4.2-dream on-the-cheap.
£240 — that makes every other flagship phone look positively wallet buckling. Google’s got a real game-changer on its hands here. [Pocket-Lint via TechRadar]

Is This the Next LG Nexus Phone?
This Is the LG Nexus 4
Sony, Samsung and LG All Launching Nexus Devices?
£36?!?!?!?!!!? A Month! For 24 months? I got a GS3 for £20…. Poor pricing. Cheaper to get a £15 unlimited everything from 3, and pay for the phone.
I agree, even for an unlimited plan that is overpriced, especially with how cheap the phone is anyway. You may aswell buy one a SIM free Nexus 4 and get a SIM-only contract from O2 for that price.
it does seem very high especially as the phone itself is cheap comparatively. guess they are intending to milk its popularity but cant see many taking this option
Yeah, or plunk with GiffGaff. £12 right now for unlimited data I think.
Sam, Carphone warehouse are also offering it on Vodafone, so much for exclusive http://www.androidcentral.com/lg-nexus-4-back-pre-order-carphone-warehouse
Who knows what Carphone does, they’re a law unto themselves. Oh, and I was waiting for el Goog to confirm there’s no restrictions on the SIM-free devices.
Definitely what I’d do, there’d be no complications for updates either, which is the whole point of going Nexus.
£10 a month.
250mins.
Ultd text and data.
Lets be fair Sam, for £39 quid extra, I don’t see anyone not buying the 16gb Model. Also I tipped this to you over 24 hours ago, do try top keep up.
I know, I’d always go for at least 16GB, but hell, price points.
If you get it on contract there is a chance you won’t get the update as fast as you normally would. This has happened to me on Vodafone before with the N1.
The Nexus 4 is manufactured by LG, and to sweeten the deal the Korean firm is also giving away one of its TVs to the first 100 customers who purchase the handset.

Why havent we been told this? is this just on O2 or is this sim free??
anyone not buying this sim free, or free on a cheap contract needs their head looking at
36 x 24 – 280 =584
thats just for the contract
wow talk about ripoff
I’m actually getting a 20 year contract on this phone that’s tied to my house, just like a mortgage.
you be lucky to get a 20 yr contract these days, its all 25 yr+
£864 (2 years on the £36 a month tariff, and guessing the 8GB)
£480 (To buy the 8GB, GiffGaff sim £10 a month Ultd Txt and Data)
What moron is going to get it on an O2 contract…

I thought the whole point was that you bought it sim free?! Sadly some people with get duped by this.
I can confirm to you that my mitts are not grubby. Status – Confirmed
I agree. This is a rip off by O2, even more insulting as it is so blatant. Do they think we are stupid? £36 per month on a 2 year contract = £864. The monthly rate is the same as much more expensive phones such as the Samsung S3 or HTC One X+! They even charge £489 for Pay and Go compared to Google’s £279 for the 16GB version. Apparently Google have undercut everyone to stop the monopoly the network providers are enjoying. We should all boycott O2 and buy direct from Google. Spread the work!
I agree with you, i’m just concerned about warranty etc, say if there is an issues with the device, how efficient is Google at repairing/replacing the phone?
