More Star Wars scriptwriter news has emerged, with a couple of established industry names thrown into the stormtrooper helmet as possible writers of the eight and ninth instalments of the revived franchise.
Most exciting for Star Wars nerds is the apparent involvement of Lawrence Kasdan in potentially writing either Episode VIII or Episode IX, as he was the man who scripted The Empire Strikes Back. He was also the man responsible for Return of the Jedi and dreary Whitney Houston vehicle The Bodyguard, so don’t get too excited.
Disney is also said to be talking with Simon Kinberg about writing the third of the new Star Wars movies. Kinberg was responsible for co-writing X-Men: The Last Stand and the big screen Sherlock Holmes remake. Both men are not George Lucas so we therefore approve. [Deadline via Total Film]

Gather round people, and witness the power…. of a blank cheque.
Removing George Lucas’ ego was the first step to making this thing a success.
I hope nobody watches these films as a big ‘fuck you’ to the shameless greed of Hollywood.
As opposed to the shameless greed of George Lucas and his permanent FUCK YOU attitude to us?
Exactly opposed to that yes. I almost said Hollywood and Lucas, but saw that he wasn’t involved in these movies.
I think Disney have been pretty decent recently, with Tron Legacy and The Avengers. Plus there’s very little they can do that’s worse than what Lucas has done.
Continue the franchise?
It might actually be good
So might Shrek 5 but does anybody really want it to be made?
If I get lightsabres with passable acting then I’m all for it
