What you’re looking at here is RISE an incredible GTA-inspired short film that blows every other fan-made project I’ve ever laid eyes on completely out of the water. If the director, Gevorg Karensky, can do this without serious backing, imagine what a full-blown GTA movie would be like. Truly awesome.
Maybe someday Rockstar’s games will actually look this good too, on my PS8 perhaps. That’s the day when will people stop going out and start living solely through their consoles — Matrix-style. [YouTube via Kotaku]

Rockstar Drip Feeds Us Yet More Tantalising GTA V Screen Grabs
I’d have sniped all them goons in the first 30 seconds of that.
Awesome – I can’t wait for GTA V. I’ve played and completed every GTA Ever made lol. Love all of them!
Couldn’t make out anything special. High chase scenes, silly lighting, grumbling audio. DOesn’t anybody make films with real content/storyline. If I want to watch guns and car chases I’d watch Fast and Furious. Or just play the GTA Game. Not film material, I’m afraid.
The Fast and the Furious series is one of my guilty pleasures.
Second that. With 5 releases, you’d think you’d had enough though
This didn’t have a storyline, or really any porpuse. It started nowhere and ended up nowhere. BUT it was really well done! And the sound effects were excellent! A good piece of work there, even if the storyline and point was completely missing. Visual and audio guys did their job well. Writers not so much.
That was a fairly weird mix of pretending to be a movie one minute then pretending to be a real life game the next… I would have preferred to see the whole thing as a game with the HUD on the screen
Meh.
If that’s the best fan film you’ve ever seen then you really need to watch Batman vs. Predator.

Bear in mind it’s 2003, so pre Dark Knight Trilogy by two whole years.
I can’t find a better quality version, but the effect is still good!
Pretty dire stuff IMO. Extremely contrived with little substance and awful dialogue. Notice the only oncoming traffic in the car chase occurs at the exact moment of overtaking. What’s the deal with the guy picking up the dropped phone, is he the phone owner’s henchman or an opportune thief? If henchman why run? If thief very well organised! Both guys continue towards the back of the bus to exit but get out of the same door at the front that the protagonist entered by. No time to call for a driver but a car pulls up in seconds. Convenient motorcyclist just sitting there waiting. Protagonist shoots directly right across from the car but is far behind it milliseconds later. The car stops with nose over dotted line but in next shot has moved forward a yard. Oncoming car in tunnel disappears. The director should focus on simple things like continuity and scriptwriting rather than style without substance. The only people living in the Matrix are the film makers themselves!
Wait, are you talking about the film or GTA?
Also; talking at normal volumes on the phone in a club? AS IF!
i Doubt anyone would want to watch gta than actually playing it. It will be pretty hard to actually make a movie out of it. The minimap is useless addon
That was extremely meh…
Slapping on a mini map in the corner, and then a fairly tame car chase? That makes it GTA? Please.
