my sentiments exactly, apple have been banging on about retina being the be all and end all, until they decide its not, the same goes with them banging on over the years about innovation being the big thing, until they stopped and decided it was quality and ecosystem. and whatever they decide next maybe animated gif icons or something :)

Remember when iPad 3 came out and for WEEKS the gadget media wrote only about how screen resolution was the most important thing in electronic equipment ever?

Funny how that doesn't seem the case now that Nexus 10 is out.

I got an iPad Mini last Friday, and I don't regret it. The screen issues really aren't that bad when traded with the portability (pocket rather than bag to carry it around).

A few annoyances - a number of apps (e.g. Facebook, iA Writer) have issues with keyboard placement - mostly in portrait. Whereas on the larger iPad, the screen scrolls down to reveal comment boxes, in certain circumstances the Mini won't do that, leading to you tapping the screen in fury. Hopefully a relatively easy fix. Haven't seen this reported elsewhere as yet.

It's a shame since the iPod Touch has Retina Display. They can fit that into a 4 inch wide screen along with the iPhone 5 but not the iPad mini?

But I do see your point. The revised iPad Mini (mini 2) will most likely include Retina Display and then sales will jump. Leaving the good/better stuff for later models. As Apple does.

I read somewhere that the washed out display if the Nexus 7 is due to Nvidia's Prism technology. This can be disabled via root command or an app in Google Play. Hope Google/Asus/Nvidia sort this out on the next update.

It wasn't a huge surprise to be honest. One of the reasons is if they added the retina this year, what would they do next year? All they'd have left were the general specs.

They did that with the iPad 4 and look how much whining people have done since.
