One of the coolest things about Windows 8 are the Live Tiles, which are like the beautiful love children of widgets and icons. Microsoft thinks so too, so they created a hilarious prank that involved a light up floor tile (think Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean) and a collapsing wall.
Directed by McCann Oslo, the live tile lays in the middle of the road and lights up when a person steps on it. And when they fully “click” it, the wall falls down and reveals a live concert. It’s pretty fun even if it’s all probably set up. [PSFK]

How The Heck Does This Magical Tile Board Work?
I wonder how many people died in the making of this
Not enough, dammit!
It’s nice that they decided to hold a party for everyone who owns a Windows Phone
Nice to see some comedy not aimed apples way this afternoon.
Hey, I’m an equal opportunities pisstaker.
Cool but fake, they would never risk it in real life since the chance of someone stepping off the tile and getting hit by the fake wall would be to high.
Not seen acting this bad since Downton last Sunday.
this. so. bad.

ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Fuck me, I would step back at leased, or try and make it look real with abit of stunned emotion.
The ones who did lost one of their shoulders, and the resulting blood spray meant that those footages had to be cut from the final production.
Yes true but my god what a cool idea.
Its still pretty good compared to a lot of the crap out there
The thing is, they could have used non-actors, real actual passers by, if they had put more though into how the wall was going to collapse.
It looks like they figured out how the wall was going to fall away in the first 5 minutes and then realized they’d have to use actors.
They should have used a hinged wall which folded onto itself as it fell downwards. Sure, it won’t be as dramatic, but it would be far more believable.
So long as there was any danger that a person could get hurt there is no way they would risk doing it to real members of the public. even assuming that the wall fell nowhere near them there is a possibility they might have an undiagnosed heart conduction and the shock might give them a heart attack.
surely an actor can have an undiagnosed heart condition too? i wander if they’d been better doing it half-way, i.e. using passers by, but warning them something ‘dramatic’ will happen and you have to stay on the square no matter what.
Yeah, but you can get actors to sign a disclaimer first
Waiver. Not disclaimer. Waiver.
Idiot.
>”surely an actor can have an undiagnosed heart condition too”
I think the idea here is that the shock of a building falling on you might trigger a pre-existing heart condition, the actor would obviously know the wall was going to fall, where it would fall and when it would fall, so what would trigger a heart attack (assuming our actor has an unknown issue with his/her heart) ?
I doubt anyone can be liable for the death of another because of an undiagnosed heart condition.
True, but “Microsoft prank kills man with undiagnosed heart condition” is not a story they want to see in the papers.
Rather cool video. Wish that happened more places tbh.
Including in Microsoft’s marketing (<– did you see the funny)
no. please provide an arrow.
As others have already pointed out – this is clearly staged – there seems to be so much of this stuff around these days, staged corporate virals made to look like hidden camera pranks with actors pretending to be passers-by, it all feels a little dishonest, especially when folk like Gizmodo further reify the idea that it’s genuine with a “Msoft prank passers by” style headlines.
Nice idea though.
