Children out on their trick or treat runs around Oldham this Halloween had a pretty mean trick played on them, with some nutcase treating them to a bag of cocaine instead of your more traditional confectionery items.
The parents of the kids, who had been out treat-bagging in the Royton area of Oldham, noticed bags of white powder in with their Halloween sweeties when they returned, which police later confirmed as being cocaine. Not sherbet cut with flour to make it go further, but proper cocaine.
The kids didn’t consume the drug, so we can’t tell if it would have had a better or worse effect on them than eating 3kg of Haribo. [Metro]

Royton area you say…got an address?
Trick or treating is going to be very popular in that area next year.
Mendip Close – make sure you get the Royton one though as there are a couple in the area.
Hah. I should just point out that I’m not a drug user.
I’m an upstanding gentleman. Less upstanding after a few drinks, but upstanding nonetheless.
Ditto, it was on the news last night though and i grew up a few miles from there.
Cocaine (so I hear) isn’t cheap… Christ!
How much do you think it would cost to rent a bunch of kids to do the trick or treating rounds next year?
so, a case of trick or tweak then?
i’ll get my coat…
At £30 a gram that’s a pretty good treat actually! Not that I’d know about such things of course.
Royton is just up the road from Rochdale. A certain Rochdale born actress used to be known as the coke fairy for always leaving a line behind in the toilets.
I’m not saying that these two facts are related but…
someone there obviously has WAY too much money! whats he giving out next year? diamonds?
I knew there was a reason why they call it sherbet…
