Yes, you read that well. Google employees don’t like to eat their own food. It seems like one third of the entire Google workforce doesn’t use Google+: 32.6% haven’t posted anything at all in the last month. A depressing stat for the Mountain View search engine and eyeglasses company.
The other numbers are not much better: 20.5% of them haven’t touched their Google+ page in the last 3 months, while 12.9% haven’t posted anything in the last six months.
Of course, you can argue that maybe they are only sharing stuff in private, with their friends. And, without knowing their Facebook usage, the number may not be that meaningful. Perhaps the Googlers who don’t use it don’t like to use any social networks at all.
Ah, who I am kidding. Who the hell uses Google+? The other two thirds are probably forced to use it. Poor bastards. [Google Plus Ghosts via Mashable]

Google's Very First Employee is Leaving
Ex-Employee: The Worst Thing About Google Is Google+
Is This Google's First Third Party App for Glass?
“Ah, who I am kidding. Who the hell uses Google+?”
Actually we have a Giz UK circle and I have used g+ since beta. It’s fantastic! Hang outs, meeting like minded people, new info in my stream all the time, FB have gradually taken many of the good points of g+ and copied them.
I love G+, but i also love the fact that no one else i know other than by Gizmodo Brothers use it as if all my FB people were on it it wouldn’t feel as special. G+ feels like a more Highbrow, grown up Party to FBs booze fuelled mad fest. I like both but for different reasons, also i particularly love not having any Family/Friend politics on G+,
totally agree, and when it does get bigger and more people use it, the circles is such an easy way of sharing or filtering stuff from those you want to speak to or those you want to ignore.
It’s ironic then that the Giz G+ groups meetups are booze fuelled mad fests, does this mean that when Facebookers meet up they have to have a dinner party?
we have crumpets and tea.
Booze-fuelled mad fests? Have you been holding ones that I haven’t been invited to?
So all that stuff about Hitler’s tealady was perfectly normal then? Also, you Londoners are the ones having mini meetups not us suburban types.
Perfectly.
On that note, anyone know of a decent (who am I kidding, any) WinMo client for G+?
Winmo? Do you mean Windows Phone or are you using really old hardware?
Nope, I really do mean WinMo – SGSIII deaded on me, so borrowing an HTC Touch 2 while O2 send me a new one!
Google haven’t got around to doing G+ foe WP 7/8, do you really expect them to do one for WinMo
One can pray…. Disappointed there’s nothing on XDA Developers
How long till you get your SGS3 back?
7-10 working days from 12:58 yesterday. Died on Monday, but the O2 shop in Westwood Cross (Margate), were rather less than helpful. O2 Lakeside by contrast were impeccable, and 11:01 this morning received confirmation of its arrival at the service centre.
It’s dead, so should have a new one next week some time.
I wish I could +1 this.
+1 to your comment Sir.
“Ah, who I am kidding. Who the hell uses Google+?”
haha Fail! About 400 million people it seems.
Many of us use Google+, it is far superior to facebook, and we also have a Giz circle. Maybe do some investigating.
http://news.cnet.com/8301-1023_3-57514241-93/google-signs-up-400-million-users-with-100-million-active/
This is Jesus though, he’d never know of our G+ Circle because his Articles are leeched from GizUS and i’m sure he never comes here to read the comments.
Don’t let him off the hook so easy.
just from reading the url and not clicking it i can tell 100m people use it…. not 400m
no point skewing numbers.
And those 400 million are active accounts, right? lol nah. No one I know uses Google Plus. It’s meh at most and the only people who do are anti-facebook to prove a point.
“the only people who do are anti-facebook to prove a point” incredibly arrogant sweeping statement that you don’t have a hope in hell of backing up with facts. Wan’t that pretty much what you were accusing Lester__Bangs of?
i just don’t know anyone who uses it at all..maybe you lot all do..well maybe only nerds then but yeah no one I know uses google plus or even talks about it. Also that arrogant statement is because i am a wealth of knowledge and power. This should not be challenged. ever.
/troll
So you’re a dick who thinks that your personal experience is the be all and end all of everything. Are you actually Jesus Diaz in disguise?
You should cry about that on Google+ where everyone will see it.
Every so often, someone who doesn’t use G+ pops up on my feed claiming that no one uses it. Then they disappear, as if to fulfil their own prophecy. Their post then also disappears behind many others.
Did you know that the staff of Giz US are all goat buggering, necrophiliac , child molesters and that Jesus Diaz dug up his own grandmothers body so that he could have sex with her eye socket.
None of the above is true (AFAIK), It just goes to show how easy it is to create a hateful story even when you have no facts to back it up.:-)
RRRooowwwll!!!! Easy Tiger
I think my my level of response was perfectly proportionate.
This would also be a good time to point out that there is a Gizmodo Circle on G+ Run by Commenters and not by Gizmodo that welcomes one and all. If you have G+, come join us
Hear hear!
Maybe not Diaz and Biddle, we would have to sit down and discuss if they can be allowed. Quality of content could drop drastically, then again we could maybe domesticate them.
I saw the article picture and immediately knew it was written by Jesus. Just because he doesn’t use it, it doesn’t mean everyone that does is forced to.
I’m a little confused as to why this is a “depressing stat”. If one were to take a cross-section of society outside of Google, one would probably find roughly the same statistic across the board with all social networking. Some people just don’t use Facebook, G+, LinkedIn, etc. It’s not something they need or want. Someone working for Google shouldn’t be assumed to be required to use G+.
agreed. plus, the most ‘damning’ stat is that about a third haven’t posted anything PUBLIC in the last 3 months. whilst obviously that doesn’t warrant the OTT headline, i don’t think it’s that bad at all. flip it over and two thirds of google employees post something PUBLIC every 3mths, not to mention all the private posts that people obviously post (for me this is certainly the majority).
also, this is ONE product from google. what % of their employees use google search, android, or gmail?
anyhow, who the f*** cares if all the employees of a company don’t use ALL their companies products ALL the time? do people who work for Cadbury’s eat a Dairy Milk every 3mths? probably not, because they work for Cadbury’s are sick of chocolate and now want an apple. maybe they eat a crunchie everyday but all you are looking at is dairy milks so you don’t realise how much they bloody love crunchies.
Jason Chen, Rosa Golijan and Brian Lam are 2 Gizmodo alumni that actively use G+… I think they’re poor bastards for having to have worked with Jesus at some point…
Good point.
I think they might be 3….
ooops.
And this is a good example of why I have taken the day off work sick.
“One Third of Google Employees Don’t Seem to Use Google+”
Seem is the appropriate word to zoom in on here, owing to the wonderful nature of Google+ circles.
It should be “Because I can’t measure it, it must mean no one is using it”.
I’ve made about x7 public posts ever on G+. I think I’m coming up to 7 million in our G+ Messenger chat.
About 7 of them safe for publication, though this may be an overestimate
Ah, nothing like a good Friday article from Jesus to pit our regular Facebook and Google+ posters against each other.
/enjoying popcorn
This is what people don’t get, G+ is not a Facebook competitor it would be a better version of Twitter if not anything else.
G+ is more of a content agregator where you meet like minded people. (interesting)
Facebook is where you see family and friends posts about mundane issues and quotes that probably didn’t come from the person where they are claiming it came from. (necessary waste of time)
That’s pretty much what I use it for.
To put it another way, if I meet random people and they ask for details I would just point them to my facebook. It’s faster. If it’s a meetup about work, or specific interests then I give them my G+ for the group.
You can of course use both in either way but to each their own.
If the friends I regularly communicate with went over to G+ I would be pretty happy about it but as it is I’m not going to even try and cajole the into changing their social media habits. Would be nice if everyone had the G+ app for one thing, as then I could easily video chat with anyone regardless of what hardware they have.
Facebook have the band pages sown up for me at the moment but we’ll have to see what happens regarding their latest stunt with limiting reach and trying to charge for it.
Number of FB contacts: 65
Number of G+ contacts: 5 (of which 1 is active)
Looks like I’ll be sticking with FB for now :/
Number of member is in the Giz G+ circle 58. Always room for one more.
or “number of members in” if you prefer English.
That would go against my rules of only adding people or joining groups with people who I’ve physically met. Makes my social networks a bit less cluttered.
Well we are having the next Giz Circle Meetup on 30th November in London, that way you could fulfil your requirements and join the circle at the same time.
That’s a very expensive way to increase my G+ contacts… and that’s just looking at the alcohol costs, never mind the transport
Ahh, so not a London/home counties type then. well we do have members further afield.
