Sony's PS4 Development Kits Arrive With AMD Chipsets and Blu-ray

Seemingly reliable sources inside video game developers have confirmed that Sony's PS4 development hardware, currently codenamed Orbis, has arrived, with an early, AMD-based kit now in the hands of the car and shooting game makers of the world.

VG247's sources claim the current Orbis kit is built around AMD’s A10 APU, a combined CPU and GPU said to be based on the company's existing graphics hardware. Two RAM configurations are rolling out, one with 8GB and another with 16GB inside, with the spy claiming 256GB of hard drive space will come as standard in the final hardware.

And yes, there will be a Blu-ray player onboard. Sony's fought too long and too hard to establish that to go all network-based on us so soon. [VG247]
