Seemingly reliable sources inside video game developers have confirmed that Sony’s PS4 development hardware, currently codenamed Orbis, has arrived, with an early, AMD-based kit now in the hands of the car and shooting game makers of the world.
VG247′s sources claim the current Orbis kit is built around AMD’s A10 APU, a combined CPU and GPU said to be based on the company’s existing graphics hardware. Two RAM configurations are rolling out, one with 8GB and another with 16GB inside, with the spy claiming 256GB of hard drive space will come as standard in the final hardware.
And yes, there will be a Blu-ray player onboard. Sony’s fought too long and too hard to establish that to go all network-based on us so soon. [VG247]

For a 10 year old videogame, The Getaway there stills looks pretty good.
On topic, though, 8GB of RAM as standard in next-generation consoles is a pretty good start (assuming the 8GB ones are Debug / Test kits, of the same spec as retail consoles, and the 16GB ones are development machines, that traditionally have double the RAM). Lets hope Microsoft can match that.
I got most of the way through that game before I realised that you could heal yourself by leaning against the wall.
One of the hardest games I’d ever played up to that point!
It’s the only game I’ve ever played the whole way through as I was desperate to be able to tootle around London without getting nobbled by the Crooks or the Cops. About half an hour after freely tootling round London, I realised that it’s much more fun being nobbled by the Crooks and the Cops.
I loved that game, they broke my heart when they gave up developing the franchise halfway through the 3rd one, the test footage they had released was mesmeric.
I hope Sony realize that they need to release the PS4 before the new Xbox.
That’s a big reason why they lost out on this gen. That and price…
Agreed. I’m happy to pay whatever they want for it though, frankly – I’m happier paying a premium for superior build quality and excellent hardware. The original PS3 (which I still have) is still a very good looking and capable machine.
Yea, I’m rocking the OG PS3 with 4 USB , Card readers
the Beast of the lot.
And also I like the PS3 exclusive game’s alot more then the Xbox ones. PS3 got – Grant Trismo, Uncharted!!!!!, Resistance, Motorstorm, Little Big Planet, The Last of Us, WARHAWK/STARHAWK and probebly many more.
most of them 9/10 10/10 games.
I also (just recently) have an Xbox, and looking forward to Halo 4, and maybe a new gears of war, but that’s it for the Xbox, but I do admit the online is a bit superior (due to more of my mates having one admittedly)
Do I need to resurrect my old Avatar again?

I don’t know, what am I suppose to be looking at?
“I like the PS3 exclusive game’s ALOT more then the Xbox ones”
I didn’t know that a PS3 could have an Alot? How would it even feed and take care of it?!
Ahhh, I was like WTF. haha. Had to Google it though.
I’d say it was more the better online experience that put 360 above PS3. That and the huge amount of limited exclusivity 360 secured on games and DLC.
That said I haven’t ever seen a reason, personally, to buy a 360.
I prefer the exclusive games on PS3, it’s why I bought it. Still rocking my first-gen PS2 capable PS3.
EtherealKid – i also think it helped that the xbox was hacked really quickly so kids could download games.
ive always thought that ps3 was for adults and xbox was for teens and kids.
i much prefer the ps exclusives to be honest
Over-engineer this baby and give it to us at a loss.
It’s a winning strategy and no mistake!*
(*may not be a winning strategy)
Don’t worry, they’ll turn a profit on their hardware in the 11th year…about the same time the PS5 comes along
Well as long as I can still use it and they don’t go bust I’m not too fussed
