The Onion’s TED parody series rolls on, with what may be the best—and most scathing—round yet. The target this time? Social media, a joyous place where ideas are a waste of time, and talent is irrelevant.
Sounds about right to us. Oh by the way, could you be a doll and share this on Facebook for us?

it’s funny because it’s true!
I found this funny, but you do have good SMM companies. I’m friendly with one company that tells people how to SMM, because they know it will bog them down and they will get a headache and come back and give them business. I think this is the point of most services, you can do it yourself very badly, you can fix your own van badly, do your own website badly, clean your office every day badly, clean the windows badly, lay the floor badly and then do all your own marketing badly. Or after all that, if you still have a business, you can pay someone to do their job very well and get on doing your job very well.
Indeed. I have some friends who just launched a startup doing the same thing. And from a lot of clients I’ve talked to they just see it as a massive time sink that they would rather just pay someone else to do, hence my friend’s new business.
This clip is funny but even funnier is how my friend’s business will take off like a rocket.
Thanks social media!
Absolutely 100% true. Every client wants to “leverage” social media for their business and I’ve given up arguing (lord knows why I ever did) and just sent in the invoice for the work.
Still, as part of the mix, while they’re happy to pay for the SM stuff they argue like crazy over time intensive development costs so it balances off in the end.
And cue a massive sense of humour failure from a load of Hispters who have been found out.
