This video, posted to YouTube yesterday, purports to show three Walmart employees shuffling stock in the warehouse of a store in Kentucky. While we’re many miles away from a Walmart over here, and yes, it’s unclear how representative it is, it may be enough to put you off buying electronics from similarly big chains.
The bearded guy opens the video by explaining “this is why you don’t buy an iPad from Walmart”, before he and his colleagues throw stock around the place, deliberately throwing boxes on the floor at times. It’s tough to make out if those are iPad boxes in the video, so it’s difficult to 100 per cent prove its veracity.
But if the video is real, it’s kind of unbelievable that people would treat electronics like this. Also, if it is genuine, it’s likely these guys won’t have a job for much longer. Even if they’re just throwing around an empty box, though, knowing that staff with an attitude like this are handling products you’re stumping up hundreds of pounds for is difficult to stomach — even if you think the iPads deserve it. Why would you show your face?
Especially looking the way it does.
Before I saw the video, I though ‘they’re totally empty boxes, it’s staged’, but having heard the sounds, and seen them being thrown, and how they react… WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT!?!!?!? I WANT AN iPAD!
End this needless iPad abuse. Where is the inquiry? It’s kind of unbelievable that people would treat electronics like this!
Dicks.
They obviously hate their job’s and they probably walked out after doing this. Or this is the way it is, probably not any harm actually done to the iPads but DICKS.
Sure sounds like a decent thing to do if they don’t mind having a harder time to get a future job.
I suspect a piece of solid state electronics like a tablet computer, protected by two cardboard boxes will probably survive that sort of abuse without any ill-effects.
I mean, we see all those drop tests and nonsense, you pretty much need to have a protruding stone smash the screen to do them any harm.
Horrifying?
I’d say famine is horrifying – this is just stupid.
Headline was written with tongue firmly in-cheek. Apologies you didn’t pick up on that.
As was my comment, famine isn’t horrifying, it’s hilarious!
Disagree, from the tone and content of the both the headline & the article I got the firm impression that the author was quite earnest and not playing for laughs at all….
Actually, I rewrote the headline myself, as didn’t like the original headline the US site used.
Don’t you just hate it when someone turns up and says something like this?
If you didn’t like what you saw in that video, please do stay away from a certain Tesco store in Oxfordshire. Employees throw around electronics all the time, punch tvs, spit in fresh cakes, throw fruit and veg at each other, steal from the chillers. Used to see this type of thing all the time having worked there for almost 5 years through uni.
This is worster than the holocaust!
Toasted cheese??
Oh, sorry, my bad, thought there was a mention of Worcester…
Got three iPads, all three have been treated like shit, dropped, sat on, stood on, one even slid down the street last winter, having a 4 year old son doesn’t help, he must drop it a couple of times a day . . . . all I can say is that these things are pretty much indestructible, I have no case or cover on any of them and they all still work as if new.
