When it comes to something like transfering your data from your old phone to your new phone, sometimes it’s just better to learn how to do it yourself. Why? Your carrier can sometimes do it for you at the store, but it takes a while, sometimes they’ll charge you, and they might also steal the nude photos you left on there.
That’s exactly what two guys in Florida who work for Verizon got caught doing (the stealing nude photos part). During the process of backup, one Joshua Stuart copied a few racy pictures—described by their subject as “very private in nature and [depicting] her breasts and vagina”—for his own private stash and to share with a coworker.
Stuart was caught when he stupidly offered to show “banging pictures” of the woman to another (male) customer, who just happened to be a friend of the lady said “banging pictures” depicted. Stuart couldn’t find the pictures on his own phone though, so coworker Gregory Lampert displayed his copies.
The bewildered friend turned to the police, who got a search warrant for the store, found the pictures, and arrested Lampert who admitted to having pulled this stunt before. Stuart fled the state, and will face felony stolen property and theft charges like his coworker if and when he returns.
So the next time you have to transfer some data, it might be best to try and do it yourself. And if there’s no way you can, at least make sure you get rid of your nudes first, or hope anyone who’s going to steal them is dumb enough to get caught like this. [The Register]

After working in a phone shop you would be surprised how many. Ive seen some pretty interesting stuff on peoples phones. Sometimes im sure they used to want me to see them

I find it hard to believe that any of the COMMENTERS here would be that dumb, but remember that there of lots of people who may have found this article or this site by accident or as a search result, they are not necessarily going to be tech savvy. Consider the number of people who have smartphones nowadays, they can’t all be in the hands of techies.
But even my mum knows how to bluetooth stuff from one phone to another, and this is a woman who’s been using computers for about 6 years and had to get me to make a zip folder for her the other day.
Worked in a few phone shops for a spat of around 4 years – saw some crazy things… had to warn my friend who im sure wanted me to see the pics, his background image was him and his misses doing some racy stuff and he brought his phone for the LCD replacing lol.
Interesting story bro but where’s the nudes? What a tease…
I once found nude photographs in a old cupboard at a paintball site, complete with the negatives. So apparently losing your nude photos is not a new phenomenon.
