The last time we checked in on the state of robot gymnasts they performed admirably on the horizontal bar, but fell out of medal contention with a laughably horrible dismount.

Three years later it looks like they’re moving closer to Olympic glory with this little bot that can perfectly stick a landing after performing a mid-air somersault. It’s not quite a gold medal performance, but with a sparkly leotard, a hard luck story, and another year of smile development, it could easily win a bronze—and our hearts. [YouTube via Automaton]
