Black Eyed Pea Will.i.am is planning to “turn your smartphone into a genius-phone”. He’s about to launch a new accessory and app for iPhone, under the monicker i.am+, that will turn the handset’s humble 8-megapixel camera into a 14-megapixel beast.
The Telegraph reports that the new hardware will “dramatically enhance the clarity and definition of your photographs”. Speaking to the Telegraph, Will.i.am has explained:
“We have our own sensor and a better flash. You dock your phone into our device and it turns your smartphone into a genius-phone. We take over the camera…
“I was just hanging out [after a photo shoot], and one of the models took an iPhone picture, which circulated the planet before the shoot was even over… I took one of the photographer’s lenses and held it up on my [phone] and said “imagine this one day”. Then I said: “I’m going to do this”.”
All that’s missing is… any technical detail whatsoever! It’s not exactly clear how this will work, then, let alone if it will work well. Still, let’s not let details get in the way, because Will.i.am isn’t: this, apparently, is just the first of many products that will bear his name in the future. And Apple seems to trust him, having granted him a development license for hardware and an app for the iPhone.
The product will be officially launched in London next week. Be afraid. [Telegraph]

1) if this ‘hardware’ boasts the same design language as that car he tried launching… Oh dear.
2) people use their phones as cameras because it’s so convenient – a hardware add on is hardly going to help pocketability is it?
Is the man not content with making music which makes shoving knitting needles in my ear drums?
The man is deluded, and tasteless.
His idea of style is a pet Rat with a Gold tooth.
Then, as you say….there is ‘That Car’……LOL
Good lord he is just the epitome of stupid.
being a photographer myself If someone came up to my camera and just pulled off the lens and proceeded to twat about with it i’m pretty sure i’d knock him on his arse.
and there are already cases that let you use DSLR lenses on the iPhone. surprise surprise they suck.
Knocking your client on his arse for chatting to you about photography seems a little harsh.
He physically picked up the camera lens. that he did not own. that is probably expensive as hell.
Snap.
If they start touching expensive equipment they likely don’t understand and you rely on to make a living with, knocking them on their arse is fair enough!
Okay, in your fantasy land knocking a client out, who’s quite wealthy, for picking up a lens is perfectly okay.
Lets ignore the startlingly obvious fact that in reality that you’d get sued and charged for assault etc.
Right, because saying that doing something patently ridiculous, and obviously meant as a flippant comment, is fair enough is identical to saying that would be my first course of action…
It’s a sarky comment, not a cannon on how to approach client relationships!
What you said is actionable and I’ve already notified Will.i.am’s representatives.
Wow, Bill-He-Is, what a visionary, he work with intel must be paying of.
Wait, what the hey!

here’s another one
I don’t understand why investing in ‘new tech’ start-ups or small companies that have found it difficult and rebranding/improving existing products is considered something new and derisory.
It’s nothing new. Get over yourselves.

Outstanding! I’d entirely forgotten about that.
If I see someone with this piece o garbage I will happily smash it into pieces then slap the individual. Anyone who buys this product deserves that treatment
