Golden boy Bradley Wiggins and the rest of our magisterial cyclists won’t have too far to travel to join the Tour de France in 2014, thanks to Tour organisers announcing that the 2014 bike race will start in Yorkshire.
The start of the race, know as the Grand Depart, often takes place in other countries before hitting the roads and mountains of France, and last appeared in the UK back in 2007 when the monster ride started with a time trial in and around London.
We’ll see two days of racing again in 2014, with the Yorkshire trial stage followed by another London stage finish the next day. The full route will be announced in January. [ITV]
