BlackBerrys used to be known for bulletproof security — the go-to device for business because you could guarantee it’d stay locked down and secure. Even if no one really wants a BlackBerry anymore, RIM’s carrying on in that vein. BlackBerry 10 will stop you being an idiot, and using a whole load of dumb passwords.
There are 106 to be exact, with highlights being ’123456′, ‘biteme’, ‘batman’, ‘f**kyou’, and the old favourite, ‘password’. Some of the others are a bit more obscure, but honestly, why are people still using actual words for passwords. I know ‘word’ is in the name, but surely everyone should be using some sort of number-infused random character string by now?
Anyway, good for RIM. It’s just a shame no one really cares any more. Here are the rest of the 106 for your personal enjoyment; if you happen to be using one of these, you might think about changing it, pronto. [RapidBerry via BerryReview via Crackberry]

I should be able to set MY password to whatever I want, no stupid restrictions or minimums.
I use sentences or phrases with the spaces removed. A longer password is more secure than a complicated one and far easier to remember.
Actually, retaining the spaces infuses a higher level of entropy in the password. Brute force crackers/dictionary attacks are particularly bad at structured sentences.
Yes, but many sites don’t accept spaces as a character.
“BlackBerry 10 will stop you being an idiot”
But the only people it will help are those who have bought BB10 so they are already idio…….oh, you were being ironic.
Well if I can’t use “password” as my password (as I do on all my accounts) then I just won’t buy a BB10.
Funny you don’t use it on your Giz account….
Well of course I don’t. I don’t use it anywhere. I just said that to see if anyone would be stupid enough to a) try it & b) comment about it. Thanks for taking part.
What’s BlackBlackerry?
abc123 – a password so dumb that they included it twice.
Why is typing the work fuck offensive? By adding in the stars you are making me think the word, which I makes me uncomfortable. Stop making me think about something I’ll never have.
