Today, Facebook is releasing an entirely new version of Facebook for Android. The biggest change you’ll notice, according to the engineering team, is that the app is way faster than it was before.
Facebook 2.0 is now coded as a completely native app rather than a native/webview hybrid. The result is that the app will load quicker and cache information locally for increased fluidity when you’re navigating the app. [Facebook]

I always thought it was a hybrid, but everyone told me to shut up! It’s a crock of shite compared to the iOS version.
Awesome, does this mean it’ll give me connection failures even faster than before?
That would be my dream phone.
No front facing camera gimmick that no one uses, no stupid light sensor that is basically there only to turn off the screen which we can do with a button but mainly to high LCD bleedthrough and poor battery life.
Most of all no Bezel and oh look using that space at the bottom to put them buttons there with no wasted space unlike most mobiles like the Lumia 920 or the Nexus 4.
I was thinking much the same, that phones all screen and it looks good!
There’s at least 600 million Skype users. Even if only 1/3 of them are using mobile phones to Skype, that’s a lot of “no one”.
As for the Android version of Facebook, about bloody time!
Step 2. design a stylish UI I actually want to look at then roll it out across full web facebook.
It kinda drives me crazy how they’re the biggest website is the world yet their site sucks.
They could afford the best designers in the world yet their home page is awful.
They could afford the best programmers in the world yet their apps suck, too. (Until recently).
They should have the best of everything, and Google+ (All Google products in general lately) have shown Facebook up big time.
I’d say “finally” but I left Android 3 months ago, muaha.
Who uses the shit apps? Use the Desktop site :\ Why I love Android since moving from the iPhone, you can use the desktop cause it supports flash.
You want me to use the desktop version of Facebook on my iPhone?
… And this is related to flash how exactly?!
#confused
If memory serves, it was quite a while back you ditched your iPhone wasn’t it? I remember having a conversation with you before where it transpired most of the issues you had with the iPhone are now solved, case in point flash, most websites wrap their flash video in html5 now so the iphone can view most videos online, not come across one i cant for quite a while now.
I didn’t realise facebook was based on flash?!!! not sure your point is here matey?
Kinda looks like he replied to the wrong comment,,. On the wrong article… Lmao
It is actually faster and successfully connected first time without errors, very nice also a bit of change in UI, very good job. now I just want them to make a tablet version of that app because right now i have the phone optimised app on a 10.1 screen tablet, not very nice.
Downloaded yesterday and so far not had any issues. Definitely is quicker and more reliable.
