The US had their turn, and now us plucky Brits are getting a go: under heavy guard, a new shipment of Google’s super-cheap Nexus 4 has made its way to Britain’s sunny shores, and they’re going on sale 5PM tonight. If you fancy a Nexus 4 for Christmas, and don’t have the cash to get one on eBay, better get your credit cards primed. [SlashGear]

Microsoft Continues Its Patent Vampire Reign of Terror on Android with LG’s Fresh Blood
Are Blood Bricks the Future of Building?
The Nexus 4 is Back in Stock
Speaking on behalf of the Nexus 4 owners club I say “you must have this phone”.
I can second that — but only for Google’s prices.
Depends what you are coming from. If you want a top of the line android on contract, this is still a good phone even though they are gouging you on the price, buy yes, if you can afford it buy off contract and get a sim only deal. Do not under any circumstances buy one on e-bay, especially if Sam Gibbs is the seller.
Aye
im seriously undecided between getting this or the lte note 2, mind you that wont be until jan-feb so there will probably be something else im lusting after by then!
I already know that I gave Google three email addressees to send a re-stock reminder too. last time Google sent a reminder after they had sold out to one address, surely it couldn’t be the same shambles it was the first time.
The reports from the US indicate nothing changed for them, same bloody shambles.
They send them first come first serve, so if they get 1000 in stock they will send emails to the first 2000 people who signed up.
JulianT disputes this, he says people with a later confirmation time than him got their phones before he did. You may remember him being a tad annoyed about this.
Google Customer Services at Mountain View actually confirmed this “as part of the problems we’ve been experiencing” and not as an official policy. Anyway, have my Nexus now and very happy
Given what happened the first time, I’m not convinced Google are that organised.
please take the article down!!!!
no point Google has sent out lots of re-stock reminder emails. Hang-on I’ve not got one at any of the three email addresses I gave them.
Oh well probably just me, it’s Google if they can’t do the internet right you may as well shut the whole thing down.
It baffles me they don’t just have a pre-order system which just puts you in a queue for when they come in stock…
Their system is like trying to get a drink at the busiest bar in the world. Fingers crossed I get one today.
I guess it just, can’t be arsed to finish up my reply mind is on the Nexus 4.
Some advice from a successful applicant
1. If you have a credit card rather than a debit card, use that to make the purchase as banks will occasionally stop a payment if they decide that the large amount of money leaving your account is unusual.
2. If you are planning to buy the official bumper do not do so at the same time as the phone. get the phone first, then accesorires.
3. Last time round the store showed as out of stock, but then had stock later. If you get an out of stock message just hit refresh as it may show up again.
You, sir, are a gentleman and a scholar.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ll get back to bashing the refresh button…
I love you Darrell, If I ever have a boy i’ll name him Jones, Darrell Jones.
Order placed
Thank you. Your order has been placed, and you will receive an email shortly with the details of your purchase.
Darrel, how long did you have to wait for your phone to arrive?
Ordered 13/11 delivered 16/11
I ordered a Nexus 10 at around 13.30 on a Tuesday it arrived 9am the next morning. They are pretty efficient!
17:03 and it still says sold out
Need to go catch a train.
Get in! Just got one. 16GB – I hope.
anyone managed to get one? still says out of stock for me
woop, after a few tries i finally got one
YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Got a 16gb ordered
Now how long until it actually turns up lol
ORDERED!!!
Yeah, baby.
WTF is this?
“Estimated Ship:
1-2 weeks”
Don’t they know how impatient and unreasonable I am?
Much better than the 4 – 5 week wait for the 8GB model xD
My 8gb confirmation email says delivered in 3-5 working days…
Order placed with little pain! Woohoo!
Woohoo! me too
YES! Got one finally, one to two weeks shipping so with any luck before the new year.
First time I’ve celebrated buying a phone like I do when my team score!
Just wondering about those who already got one of these. Did anyone get the bumper to go with it? Normally I think they are pretty naff but they do a job. Is this one particularly good looking and thin or anything?
Also when I went back the shipping time for 8Gb phones is 4-5 weeks! Bloody glad I didn’t go for that choice!
Just bought two of these!!! Finally!
I’m glad the eBay scums won’t be able to buy loads of them and whack them on eBay.
“Thank you for your previous order. You have reached the limit for this item.”
Got one! – yuss!!!
Order Placed!! dons shades
I managed to get one, at last. still another shambles from Google though. What a terrible way to sell something in demand.
I hope I receive it, I’ve been having nothing but delivery hell for the last two months except DPD who have been great. Which courier does Google use in the UK? I hope it’s not Yodel.
My Nexus 7 was sent by TNT.
Thanks, Hopefully I get it. Although all the couriers seem to turn bad around Christmas
Can confirm Tnt have the Google account
I think it depends on the delivery address. TNT for the most part only deliver to business addresses.
I do not live at a business address
General Announcement
Any questions anyone has about the n4, I will be happy to help. First thing, if you’re coming from an older phone, you’ll need to get a micro sim, so it may be an idea to pop into your provider this weekend.
Yeah, good advice, i ordered one last time when i thought i was going to get one but missed out, (O2 users just call 202 and ask for one to be sent out) my mate however managed to get the n4 but forgot to order a sim so i let him have mine as we are both on O2, he wasnt too keen on the suggestion of the offer going the other way unfortunately.
I used scissors and it worked fine
I prefer a Stanley knife
Hi Darrell, sorry to bother you but I just had a quick question regarding the status of your Google Wallet after you ordered your phone. My delivery is supposed to be in 3-5 days, and in my GW it says that the transaction is pending – so will it be completed once it is shipped out, or have they somehow messed up my order? Thanks in advance for your help.
The transaction is pending means exactly that, the money is not gone from your card, but neither can you spend it. It is held in a financial limbo (called escrow) till Google ships the phone. This ensures that the phone is paid for, but that Google makes no profit on taking the money in advance.
Cheers for the reply. Yeah, I figured that the money is pending as according to both Google Wallet and my credit card status. My point was more than could that system be a little slow to update and that my phone will be shipped relatively soon – because according to some other people on the site they had an initial estimate of 4-5 weeks yet their order has completed and is being shipped.
Would be a little bit miffed if I get mine later than those who ordered later, given that my estimate was 3-5 days.
Basically you won’t know it’s shipping till you get the email, when that will be is a complete mystery to everyone, including I suspect Google
Well despite missing the earlier warning. I managed to order one at 5.27. I am happy though my previous estimate of early next year before I get my mitts on it was correct. Estimated delivery 4-5 weeks. Just have to put it out of my mind till then…
I finally managed to get one, some how i managed to get 3 that’s right 3 can’t believe it. Two 8 and one 16. I thought there was a limit of two.
Phew, order successful. I thought that I was going to miss out again, Google Play store kept on saying that they were experiencing high traffic volumes and then I got an order number and a confirmation e-mail. Now it is a matter of breaking out the beers and waiting for 1 to 2 weeks for delivery……
Anyone got a link for that article on how to switch from iOS to Android. I’ll be needing it in 1-2 weeks
And as if by magic….
http://www.gizmodo.co.uk/2012/10/how-to-make-the-switch-from-ios-to-android/
I’ve been trying to buy it for an hour and a half now, no luck whatsoever…
I want a 32GB model but by the time they release one the GS4 will be out.
4-5 weeks delivery time, but I got my order in! Yes! At last!
I missed it, AGAIN!
Got mine
