Some leaked tech specs supposedly tell us what to expect from HTC’s flagship Android model for 2013, with the phone maker apparently set to launch a 4.7″ model with a 1080p display.
The phone, which is currently known under the codename HTC M7, also features an enormous 468PPI image density output thanks to the display numbers, which ought to see our beloved old flip clock bursting out of the screen clearer than ever.
Elsewhere, the M7 is said to contain a 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm processor alongside 2GB of RAM, the required chips to make it compatible with 4G networks and version 5.0 of HTC’s popular Sense user interface stuck over the top of Android 4.2.
There should also be a 13-Megapixel camera inside it, plus a 2-MP front facing secondary cam for looking at your own face with and a 2,300mAh battery to give it a decent desk life. Stick it on the next phone list. Near the top. [Unwired View]

Removable battery and micro-SD card or GTFO.
That’s why the HTC one series are getting kicked by Samsung Galaxy. Don’t know why HTC are trying to be like Apple
It’s exactly the reason I got an S3 after years of buying HTC phones.
because everyone wants Apple phones, and HTC know they can’t be sued by Apple, thanks to their agreement
Not everyone, in fact the minority do, Android is out selling Apple by far.
Yeah Android is outselling apple Not a particular phone just the operating system.
Is there any point at all in using a 1080P 4.7″ screen other than looking good on a spec sheet? Surely 720P is enough for that size and our eyes would struggle to see the difference?
Bragging rights I suppose
There won’t be any bragging when it comes to battery life.
I’m hoping that reviewers will blast these phones for their pointless spec sheet one-upmanship, but instead we’ll hear lots about how crisp and sharp these screens are, how they’re the best thing since sliced bread.
And so the perpetual cycle continues…
So bored of these Android phones…
If you’re bored with the most flexible OS on a smartphone, then may God only help you.
I saw a 70 year old woman on YouTube put her legs behind her head. That’s flexible…but I’m not interested!
lol
HTC Sence user since 2010 and I prefer stock Android. I was excited for ICS on my Desire S but HTC didn’t implement it properly. The green was still present everywhere. Worse part, when I tried flashing image it won’t work on the latest hboot version.
Does anyone know when this phone will be out? I was going to buy the HTC One X, should I wait for this phone or buy the One X?
Never wait for “better” tech to come along. It’s a fool’s game.
Get whatever’s good now, rather than waiting for what might be good later.
OK thanks.
No that is wrong, do wait if the older tech is coming towards the end. The One X was never good to start with, all it had was the screen.
These phones get updated yearly and it is coming towards the end of the cycle, so I say wait.
Seeing as the One X has been out for c. 9 months, it might be worth waiting as you’ll be stuck with it for 2 years. Whilst you won’t be finding anything to complain about, HTC have already released the Butterfly J and DROID DNA that are basically this phone, meaning the “M7″ could be just around the corner.
OK I will see when the phones out, I have had apple, Blackberry and hated them both so now I want to give android a try
.
Have you not considered WP8? I recently installed Win8 on my desktop and the UI is pretty breathtaking in that it’s both more beautiful and more functional than any other.
That said, I have a One X myself and I wouldn’t change it for the world.
I swapped my One X and £30 for an iPhone 4s. Happiest day of my life.
you poor, poor person.
I’m pretty sure the Nexus 4 is the “flagship” Android device, at least for the near future going into 2013.
“HTC’s flagship Android model”
Um, apart from the MHz boost I cant see anything I would want in this phone.
1080p will kill battery and kill any performance increase that you might of had from a faster SoC. 2GB RAM. I’d take higher speed RAM than more RAM thanks. It just means it’ll be at the same speed for longer instead of any faster. OK Maybe 4G and Sense are 2 other things I would look forward to.
I personally will get the GS4 instead, we know it’ll have the best specs around when it is released. It’ll have a lovely high resolution OLED screen, which I don’t care what the haters say, I love the better stronger colours, the perfect blacks, no bleed through and amazing viewing angles.
Most importantly though, Micro SD and removable battery which is very important for custom roms because if something fucks up, you can easily kill the power source.
“2,300mAh battery to give it a decent desk life”
I usually plug in at a desk, power points galore. I find with mobile devices it is the mobile battery life that is the issue.
Why removable batteries negate battery life for the most part. I mean I ride motorbikes, never interested in cars so I always have a backpack and I carry 2 extra batteries in there. It is so good just being out somewhere and being able to use my phone to the full potential and not be worried about battery life.
I hate these unibodied phones, it is some weird fad that isn’t good for anybody. I mean imagine a camera being made without a removable battery, the outcry from people because they couldn’t spend the day out taking pictures.
I just don’t know why people excuse it from their phone.
I to find myself with spare batteries. But I’d prefer a phone a few mm thicker than to have a need for a spare.
jesus, 13 MP in a phone? seems a bit unnecessary to me, I’d much rather use a real camera with a real zoom
but it better not be like the HTC one with no removable battery. Had enough problems with my sensation to know that thats pretty essential in any phone
