Instagram pictures have been wonky inside of Twitter ever since Instagram disabled Twitter cards in hopes of driving users to its own web interface. Now Instagram pictures aren’t showing at all, and that change is likely permanent.
From now on, links to Instagram pictures on Twitter will work as links and nothing but. If you want to get back instant-show functionality for your filtered pictures, you’ll just have to switch over to the Twitter version that’s due to launch sometime before the holidays. AllThingsD is reporting that Facebook has confirmed this change is due to Instagram turning card support all the way off; this is no mistake. It’s the end of an era.

there are lots of companies in tech which i hope wont die, but instagram isn’t one of them, i hope it dies in a fiery ball of sepia and skinny jeans
I hope it doesn’t; some pro photographers on there take some quite beautiful photos.
then ruin them with filters

Maybe so, but truly talented photographers will always find a platform and everybody else doesn’t need one: http://www.gizmodo.co.uk/2012/12/this-hilarious-video-shows-everything-thats-annoying-about-instagram/
That’s ok I think, i’m willing to put up with the mountains of dreck if it can easily be avoided (which it can) if it gives artists a place to create and share interesting work. And don’t forget that any number of those non-pro users could flourish and start producing good stuff. If it gets more people interested in photography/art and they can easily share it with the world, I think that’s a net gain.
