OK, so here’s a reason to rethink buying refurbished. Five-year-old Braydon Giles popped open a 3DS he just got for Christmas to find about nine photos of people, presumably the previous owners (or the previous owner’s parents?), having sex. Hoo-boy.
Mark Giles, the kid’s father, found this out when Braydon asked his older brother with help deleting the photos. He claims the photos “traumatized” his family, which, you know, maybe. But it’s probably a good bet that the bigger letdown for young Braydon was not being able to play with his 3DS as soon as he opened it.
The Colorado Gamestop where Giles purchased the 3DS has of course apologized, and Gamestop has issued a you’re-probably-still-suing-us-but-hey-it’s-worth-a-try statement about the incident:
“GameStop is currently researching this situation. We have a rigorous quality control process in place to ensure that existing content is removed from all devices before they are re-sold. Out of millions of transactions each year, ones like this happen very rarely. Our number one priority is to make this right for our customer.”
Which is all fine. The larger question, of course, is WHO THE HELL IS USING A FREAKING NINTENDO 3DS TO FILM HOMEMADE PORN????? That can’t possibly be the best or most convenient camera available to any human being who owns a 3DS, unless that human is like 9. Ten-year-olds have iPods. Were they using augmented reality stickers? Or maybe filming the action from every possible angle with every camera in the house? This is a gigantic mystery, and solving it should be at the top of all of our priority lists. [NBC]

I did get a ‘new’ Japanese DSi which has lots of pictures of people on it one time.
Why would someone use a 3DS?
Probably because it was the most convenient 3D camera.
