Designed to complement Samsung’s Galaxy line of tablets and smartphones, the company’s new EAD-R10 Mobile Beam Projector is curved like a handset, instead of the standard projector brick, so it more easily slips into your pocket. It’s just too bad its specs harken back to pocket projectors from a few years ago.
With just 20 lumens of brightness and a resolution of 640 x 360 it’s far from being on the bleeding edge of pico projector technology. But by using slightly older components the Beam ends up with a smaller form factor than the Galaxy SIII and a price tag of what converts to £140. At launch the EAD-R10 appears to be a South Korean exclusive, but since it appears to be a nice alternative to a hefty projector-imbued phone, here’s hoping Samsung releases it elsewhere soon after.

Are These the First Photos of the Samsung Galaxy SIII?
Samsung's Awkward Galaxy SIII Seduction
How Did Samsung Keep The Galaxy SIII Secret?
That resolution sucks bawls!
it’s still progress though, i’m sure we’ll see built in projectors in our handsets within 3 years, a gimmick of course but it’s possible!
Samsung Galaxy Beam?
yeah i know, but what I meant to say was as an industry standard gimmick in a few years time
That resolution is terrible, especially compared to other pocket projectors and the price!
But its [Insert Company Name]!
It is quite ironic that devices designed to create an image LARGER than ones humble laptop display or monitor feature resolutions of first generation laptops, such as the Powerbook 140.
I’ll buy a pocket projector when it does Super Hi-Vision.
