The popular kiddie Santa-tracker offered by NORAD has taken sides in the internet search war, dumping its affiliation with Google in favour of using Bing and Microsoft’s maps to track Father Christmas this year.
The change would appear to be motivated in part by good old festive money, with the site now listing Microsoft among its list of corporate contributors. Google Earth has also been dumped when it comes to more specific 3D Santa locating, with open source globe mapping tool Cesium bought in to replace Google’s option. I never liked the fat f#%k anyway. He is not even on my G+ circle.
Too f#%king right, this marks the beginning of the end for the jolly man in red.
We shall wipe that jolly smile off his face.
You shouldn’t be so hard on the guy M, It’s no wonder Santa has to shill for corporate sponsors these days. Kids use to be happy with wooden toys or dolls but they all want Smartphones and tablets these days. No wonder he feels like this. http://vimeo.com/17776661
Well, with a response like that, it’s highly unlikely you’ll be getting a Sony Experia from Santa Clause! Though maybe Gizmodo will chuckle enough to.
I don’t think they are looking for witty or remarkable comment on this one, even if they were just the fact that I mentioned G+ would probably disqualify me instantly from the competition.
If by any miracle I do actually win the phone Mr.Spatchmo will be receiving it as a gift from me/Giz UK.
Thanks M, you’re a stand up geez, corner of society, gentleman and a scholar! :-p
It would have been nice to see Norad stay with Google but in the change i’m glad he went for Microsoft and not Apple. I would never have got any presents if they chose Apple!!!
