If you were ever in doubt that Apple had a full-blown smart HDTV in the works, this should put your mind at rest. Tim Cook's just been quoted as saying it is "an area of intense interest". If that doesn't scream "we're trying our hardest to make TV better, but it's just not there yet," I don't know what does.
In an interview with NBC, Cook actually went as far as to say:
"When I go into my living room and turn on the TV, I feel like I have gone backwards in time by 20 to 30 years. It’s an area of intense interest. I can’t say more than that."
Of course, this is all still just rumour, but considering it's been a rumour that just won't die for literally years now, Tim Cook upgrading Apple TV from a hobby to 'area of intense interest' pretty much confirms it. At least, Apple's working on something related to TV and it's not the hobby-of-a-black-puck we know and, err, love any more. [NBC via 9to5Mac]
