Apple’s automated Do Not Disturb feature has gone a little haywire with the big switchover to 2013, and is now refusing to wake up some iPhones and iPads from their scheduled offline time.
The glitch is being widely complained about on Apple’s forums, where users are seeing the little moon icon permanently on display and their phones not coming out of sleepy time as scheduled. It’s effecting iPhones and iPads, with versions 6.0.2 and 6.0.1 of iOS prone to the bizarre narcolepsy bug.
As ever, it’s pretty sporadic — some have it, some don’t. And some that don’t have it might pretend they do in order to get an extra 40 minutes in bed today. [TUAW]

Mine was still on this morning, I thought I was imagining it, or I had switched it on while half asleep..
Its the +12 Millenium Bug or something.
It happened to mine this morning! Thankfully I was awake before I needed to be. Silly iPhone.
Happening on mine using iOS 6.1 Beta too
It doesn’t stop your alarm working though, so unless your boss gives you a morning wake up call every day I can’t see a huge problem.
‘It’s effecting iPhones and iPads, with versions 6.0.2 and 6.0.1 of iOS prone to the bizarre narcolepsy bug.’
I didn’t realise that it was causing iOS devices to magically appear!
I’ll just pop this here for Gary’s future reference…
It’s sad that we even need this kind of poster. Don’t people go to school anymore?
I don’t remember being actively taught any of that sort of stuff by my teachers, and I went to a good school!
Me neither, although I’m sure there were red pens involved if I submitted any work with mistakes like that in. I used to get marked down for apostrophe abuse too.
Having said that, I think it’s the sort of thing you’re expected to pick up by just interacting with words and language, or reading a lot. I know I read fewer books now than I did when I was at school, and I suspect kids now read less too.
This happened to me as well, missed a few phone calls before I realised!
This is weird, I noticed it this morning and then manually turned it off BUT I’ve had two calls since that haven’t rung…so it seems to still be on although I’ve turned it off…
i’ve discovered this, not sure if it’s meant to happen or not but-
Take a picture through the camera and then delete it, go onto the safari or chrome and search for a .png image file type that has some transparency around the edges. when you check the album preview section in the photo application – underneath the thumbnail of the .png image, you’ll find the deleted image visible where the file is transparent. it also appears if you’re flicking through the pictures and its loading it up.
this also copies across to a computer too, where if you plug the iphone in and access the files – on the thumbnail of the .png image you can see the deleted image underneath.
oh- and when i’m watching a video through chrome on my iphone – soudn only comes through the earpiece.
