Scraps of evidence are appearing across the internet, so 9to5mac claims, that point towards Apple maybe, possibly, perhaps readying an update for the iPad.
9to5mac has reported that devs are finding code in the soon-to-be-released iOS 6.1 that point towards a new device, featuring 128GB of storage. Adding some fuel to that fire is a new set of SKUs, leaked by a “high-profile U.S. retailer”, which point to a new “ultimate” version of the iPad:
In the past Apple has referred to its storage options as “Good,” “Better,” and “Best”, so the use of the “Ultimate” signifier could suggest a premium iPad is waiting in the wings—potentially offering up that rumoured 128GB of storage.
It’s possible, then, that Apple is adding an extra model to its existing iPad range—perhaps for special customers or internal use, given its large capacity, which is expensive and doesn’t fit with the growing trend of migrating to the cloud. Another possibility is that Apple is giving its whole iPad range a light spring-time spruce up—though that seems rather less likely.
The final option, of course, is that it’s all speculation that amounts to nothing. We’ll have to hold on and see. [9to5mac]

or that apple want to charge people 400 quid for a 30 quid piece of tech?
Apple charge too much for storage, kind of like Sony did with its propriety memory sticks back in the day and look what happened to them !
Product names like Ultimate should only really be used to sell prophylaxis or motor fuel.

Uhm.. a little more storage is making the news these days?
Yes, I’m currently writing an article for “spiels for them below” about how I’m assembling a new flat pack filing cabinet. I’m anticipating great excitement. Possibly even a spot on the news.
MS Surface Pro contender?
i thought that.. the idea of running OSX on an ipad over iOS, but would this not compete with its own Macbook Air?
You would think. But arguably, having a larger range or products would surely mean more custom.
I really like the Surface, and I’m sure an apple version will be on the cards at some point. The iPad I feel is overpriced for what it’s capable of doing. This may just be down to iOS however.
What would you rather buy? An apple version or the surface?
humm.. not that i really have anything against Apple, they do make great stuff and no one can that that from them, i just dont like their price and general attitude towards the tech market, ok its good but once you break some of the tech back its not worth the over all number of £`s you need to hand over. I made my choice to go MS mainly because of gaming and the fact, back before Mac was so big it was easier to find “5 finger” software (these were student times, i would never do this now!) Now i have an Xbox, a Win7 Desktop and a Win8 Laptop, so to add an Apple product to this mix would seem odd, maybe not? but i think the surface should slip in neater, however i wont need the Surface Pro and the Surface RT is good but has a few things that mean i can wait for the Surface RT2 OR the Xbox Surface, if that is a real thing, might be an option? Confused??
I can imagine, the marketing phrase.
The new Ipad. This changes nothing. Again.
