I was looking at screenshots of Apple.com’s former homepages (using the Internet Archive Wayback Machine) and decided to compile them into a slideshow. With the exception of Apple’s homepage in 1997, it’s pretty remarkable how little the core design has changed.
After 15 years, the layout of Apple.com is still the same: prominently feature the latest product, with 3-4 little boxes below that highlight other recent products and company news. The homepage has become more evident and intuitive each year. Bigger pictures, less copy, bolder text, fewer items to click… It’s like a giant billboard. They stuck with a format that worked and continually refined it. [The two biggest changes: they moved the navigation bar to the top in 2000, then gave the entire site a facelift with the introduction of Leopard in 2007.]
It goes without saying that Apple’s strength is design, but their homepage deserves credit for being great for so long. Ever since its early days, Apple.com has moved in the direction of being more friendly, focused, simple, and beautiful.
Charlie Hoehn has worked with more than a dozen best-selling authors, helping them market (and sometimes write/edit) their books. Nowadays, he’s pursuing his own projects.

Reckon they’ll be quite a few Apple fans wanking themselves silly to these later.
No doubt TSeng will be along soon once he’s cleaned himself up.
I’d still love to see you under those treads!
And so it begins.
Puppys intensely picturing me spunking myself, that in itself is disturbing enough to warrant a reply!
Almost as disturbing as a creeply little fuckwit stalking someone on the comments section of a website all week.
P.S. I’d still love to see you under those treads!
I’d still love to see you under those treads!
What the absolute fuck is going on here
Haha, I thought I’ve seen that before. Whats the story?
TSeng has been stalking me all week after a said something bad about his precious. Kind of flattering having your own personal internet stalker
eeeeeewwwwww Google fanatics wanking over Google, Apple devoties wanking over Apple corporate wankification is a dirty business all round !
It’s one big circle jerk going on in the tech world
I care not for Apple nor Google, I have an iPhone 5, a Note 2, an iPad 2 and an Asus TF700, they all make great products and both companies make great OS’s with their strong and weak points.
TL:DR – Long story short I just don’t like the Ugly Puppy
partly because they think about me coming to climax, mostly because they post nothing of value in this universe.
I’d still really love to see them under those treads though
If you don’t like me then stay the fuck away from me, simples
I’d still love to see you under those treads!
I wasn’t accusing you of anything mate…….my commiseration’s on the iPhone 5 by the way
just for the record I have a 4S so Im not anti Apple by any means
<3 it's actually very nice
Game of soggy apple, anyone?
In the style of the late Michael Winner, “calm down dear, it’s only a comment thread”
I’m very calm, actually find it amusing that Tseng is besotted with me to this extent. Who could resist a fictional character that has an avatar of a dog with it’s head down the loo?
I’d still love to see you under those treads!
What treads?
Initially I was thinking something like a combine harvester, but I’m happy with a bulldozer
Hey what about a T-90 battle tank!
Right TSeng, I’m going to have to insist that you stop all of this nonsense. From now on, if I see any more comments directed at PickSuppy, I’ll delete them — that’s something I never like to do, but I’ve had some complaints about your behaviour, and actually, I’m inclined to agree with them.
Feel free to email me on kat.hannaford[at]futurenet.com if you want to talk about this further, otherwise, I will live in hope that I don’t have to see your comments aimed at PickSuppy (or anyone else, in this manner) again.
I thought it was all in good humor? I must be missing something.
It’s been going on for about a week now, and I had a few complaints from other users. When TSeng and I emailed about it, s/he acted like a ridiculous bully, and I actually had to block them from my email inbox.
Personally I think its only the Apple web designers who still know what they’re doing, maybe they should let them have a go at revamping iOS and OSX
