So JJ Abrams is directing Star Wars Episode VII, and everyone is quite certain that it will be very great, or very bad, or very dumb. But before we see a single frame of lens flared footage, this shot-for-shot recreation of the Star Trek Into Darkness trailer using original trilogy clips is a taste of what an Abrams Star Wars might look like. And it’s totally, absolutely wonderful.
After seeing this, hell, give Abrams the original trilogy masters and let him re-edit them. It’s not like it would be any sillier than the last go-round’. [Reddit via Laughing Squid]

Dubious Sith Rumour: J.J. Abrams Will Direct Next Star Wars
It's Official: Disney Confirms That JJ Abrams Will Direct the Next Star Wars: Episode VII
Are Stars the Origin of Organic Life?
Nice. I thought it was just going to be original trilogy footage obscured by post production lens-flares, so I’m pleasantly surprised – cos that joke has been done to death.
So 3 movies with a Star Trek trailer soundtrack actually worked. Each day my interest on episode 7 grows.
I dont know about anyone else but it looks suspiciously like normal Star Wars with a different sound track perhaps this article should have been titled ‘hers what it’d sound like if JJ Abrahams Directed the original Star Wars”
Sound, editing and style. See here for a comparison:

Yes but the editing and style in question only really applies to the 2 trailers not the Film as a whole but I take your point.
Needs more tribbles.
Everything would benefit from more Tribbles
Needs more lens flare.
F**K, SH*T… crap.. the more i see and this trailer are making me want an episode 7.. cos its gunna be cool
I never did get Star Wars. Kinda hokey and yea, even banal. And I am NOT trolling
Just curious, does the LucasFilm-Disney deal grant Disney the right to remove JarJar Binks from the prequels?
How wude.
I’m not sold. I thought the Into Darkness trailer (for Star Trek) was pretty underwhelming. Felt like they’d missed something out of the audio mix or something.
And the music is so tedious.
