Tech retailer Expansys has cut a deal with 4G network EE to offer a super-cheap 4G data SIM, loaded with a 5GB data allowance — and your first month free. Entering the code FREE4G when buying a £1.99 EE SIM from the shop gets you access to the 4G dream. Usual cost £15.99. Terms and conditions apply. Seems legit. Give it a go if you live in an LTE hotspot. [Expansys via Recombu]

Don’t forget yuou need an LTE phone too.
its only a tablet only data sim, not for use with the mobiles apparently
http://recombu.com/mobile/news/4gee-free-trial-expansys_M18663.html
I’m confused, the Nexus 4 isn’t LTE is it (although it apparently has the LTE chip)?
Yes, and it works in Canada only with very low signal apparently.
So it has an LTE chip, just not an antenna tuned to the requisite frequencies!
That’s what I understood.
ok, so won’t get this sim then
the nexus 4 does have an LTE chip, but it is disabled for the uk market for unknown reasons,it also only works in selected markets from AT&T in certain regions also due to frequency bands
I’m assuming that normal price of £15.99 a month doesn’t include 5Gb of data, if it does that is a pretty sweet deal
Isn’t that just the same as direct from EE, but with added postage…??
http://shop.ee.co.uk/priceplans/pay-monthly/4gee-broadband-sim-only/
Read the article. It says that the USUAL price is £15.99, and this is direct from EE. It even gives the exact same link that you have! Christ, people like you annoy me.
Still, £4.50 postage for less than 1 gram of sim-card, little steep! I still haven’t managed to use my Galaxy S3 LTE on 4g yet but I will be in London town next weekend and then Southampton for 3 weeks (where I think if I remember right that 4g is available) so will finally get to try it out! Godbless my t-mobile unlimited package, accidentally rinsed through 19gb in a night and not even a text from them:)
its a data tablet sim only,
thats what the other websites are stating, gizmodo didnt write anything regarding phone/ or tablet but other sites including this one http://recombu.com/mobile/news/4gee-free-trial-expansys_M18663.html are saying tablet
4G with data limits just seems like a more expensive way to hit your limits faster. I think I’ll leave it be until someone comes up with some deal without a limit.
Also I just got a new phone that lacks LTE, so it’ll be a while before I want to replace that either way.
Could you order a few of these and then activate 1 a month, meaning you get a few months for free?
ok for everyone out there thinking of this deal a number of points, 1) if you order this sim go through the checkout and put in the free code it removes the charge for delivery and vat, i think the deal is approx £3.80 before discount, so you ONLY pay £1.99,
2) i have ordered this today, but what i did not see, gizmodo have incorrectly advertised, is that this is only for tablets so if like me you have a lte phone then your out of luck, as its a data sim for tablets, upon further reading it also states this on expansys site also, so i bought mine today will send it back hopefully as i dont own a tablet.
