After recently binning most of its interest in the TV market, Philips has now sold off its remaining home entertainment teams, leaving the once mighty tech company to focus on mundane kitchen and health products.
In similar fashion to the recent TV business disposal, Philips will continue to receive royalties from buyer Funai Electric Co, alongside at £130m chunk of lovely money to help fund further innovations in the home juicing and man/lady shaving segments. [Telegraph]

Can I assume the main pic is supposed to be a grater?
Or perhaps some sort of sit-on lady-shave…?
Does the lady have to grind or sit still?
Oh well philips! I dont think I’ve ever got excited about any of your products so probably a good move
It’s a shame. Philips have an android app and DLNA streaming hardware(Fidelio A1, A2 etc) which could just have been a competitor for Sonos and Airplay if they’d given it more development effort. I wondered why they seemed not to be pushing it more. They’ve left that market as Pure are joining it with their Jongo range.
Mundane? They are pioneers in medical electronics.
I guess only those who work in the profession know that..
Shame, I liked their stuff. And Philips earphones are the only ones that don’t make my ears sore, hopefully the new buyer will keep producing them the same way, or I’ll have to look after the ones I’ve got.
