Samsung’s Exynos processors have powered a lot of the faster devices out there, from the Galaxy S II, which was way ahead of everyone in terms of speed, to the newer Nexus 10. Now the Exynos 5 Octa Processor is here. Wait, octa? As in eight cores?
Yep. Two sets of quad-core processors. In a phone. Crazytown. They use ARM’s big.LITTLE architecture, which is like having an automatic switch for flipping between performance and energy efficiency. It’s very slick. Like everyone else who released a mobile processor this week, Samsung claims it’s the fastest and most energy-efficient mobile processor in the world, boasting a 70 percent increase in battery life. We shall see.

So, soon we can run a server on it. But Sammy needs to offer a TouchWiz free phone for it to be my choice.
The core S series is pretty well community-supported. I run AOSP ROMs from them.
All I want is more of the same from Samsung when it comes to the GS4, removable battery, Micro SD, improved specs and LTE support for future-proofing. The curved display looks neat, it doesn’t take away, doesn’t really add anything either but just a fun little novelty.
Excited to see their TouchWiz updates as it is the best version of Android these days, shame people don’t forget what it used to be and realise how many amazing features Samsung have added. I mean PiP and multiple windows is worth it enough, I don’t get the love for Stock Android, all the stock programs suck, like Chrome for example, it is slow as shit on Android.
Featurewise, Touchwiz on Android is far and away the most innovative operating system out there. Aesthetically, though, it has taken what have been two very good looking stock Android releases in ICS and JB and turned them into garish, multicoloured affairs. I think people would be really, really, really happy if Samsung just let the design of Android itself shine through and focused on extending the functionality to make their phones stand out.
Yeh I mean I’m not against just having a stock Android rom as an alternative download to install. The community usually develop this stuff though and Samsung have been far more open with their Galaxy series than any one else.
I switched to the Nexus 4 until the GS4 just because I could sell my GS2 for £220 and only pay £10 extra to have the 8gb Nexus 4. Firstly I’ll say 8gb is nowhere near enough without a micro sd slot, though nor is 16gb, really need a 32gb model. Secondly though Google have made the phone so restrictive, can barely do anything, they don’t even allow you to freely use the phone like a usb drive when you plug it in. Google basically wanted to make an iPhone with this device, everything about it is basically an iPhone and it is a disgrace.
I miss Odin as well, just so easy to flash roms with it.
Oh and Google seemed to have taken away the ability to plug in a PS3 controller to play games and you cannot plug in an external drive either…. like well done Google, you’ve made an iPhone, only an iPhone does a better job at sucking then you do… you’ve just created a generic PoS.
In fact Google and their software other than their search engine which they ripped most of their ideas from other sources suck. They haven’t created anything good, no stock version of Android has been any good, their hardware delivery sucks, always has done. They just don’t have any good ideas of their own.
