After the supposed specs leaked last week, Samsung’s mobile head JK Shin has apparently confirmed that there’s an 8-inch Galaxy Note coming next month at Mobile World Congress, the annual trade show in Barcelona. That means you’re going to need to buy a pair of Jncos if you want to carry this rumoured monstrous phablet in your pocket.
Besides the report that the next Note will be the size of Zack Morris’s brick phone, the device is said to include a 1.6GHz quad-core processor and a 1,280 x 800 pixel display. An 8-inch note might be big enough to double as a bludgeoning tool, but Samsung wouldn’t be making these monsters if people weren’t buying them. And the real question we should be asking is; will pockets be getting monstrous too, to keep with these bigger and bigger phones? [iNews24 via Engadget]

Is it a phone, though? Surely the 10 inch version wasn’t a phone.
I imagine this being a tablet or, at most, a tablet with cellular capabilities coupled with a bluetooth headset or some sort of strange stylus / headset hybrid.
Yet again battery size goes unnoticed, shame.
I always wondered about the battery life of such resource hungry devices, my theory is that they could release solar powered batteries or a 100000mah battery but if they were to launch it now sales for their other devices would plummet hence they just cruise alongside other competitors with similar battery capacity, surely its not that simple but just my view
It’s a good idea but we hardly see the sun in Winter here in North East of England
Do we even know what the battery capacity will be? Considering this is (most likely) an 8 inch tablet, one could expect a decent sized battery.
Even if this is a phone, given the high capacity battery in the Galaxy Note II (3,100 mAh) which allows the device to have one of the more formidable run times of current smartphones, we should see good longevity with the 8 inch Note. Capacity should certainly best the 4,300 mAh battery in the Nexus 7.
I hope its over 5k mAh, no mention of it which is probably one of the most important bit of data one may like to know
A tablet with a 5k mAh battery would be pretty reasonable. That sort of capacity in a phone would be blissful. Next generation Motorola device perhaps?
I really hope so
Props on the suitable avatar change!
This is stupid. The 8 inch version is obviously a tablet. What you should writing about is that, this is samsung’s answer to the iPad mini.
It’s as if there’s been a massive brain fart in the electronics industry as they get lost in a size battle like schoolkids comparing cocks in the shower room.
Size isn’t everything or so I have been promised.
you went to a weird school…..
Contrary to public believe, boys don’t actually compare dick size face to face (or dick to dick).
This sounds pretty cool. Heard a lot of good things about the Note, but a lot of them have sounded good to me for using it as a tablet rather than a phone
+1 for the Saved by the Bell reference
Can you really imagine this being suitable for making calls on? 8inch is a tablet, that’s the bottom line, I could never make a call on a iPad mini without looking like an idiot, the new note would be no different.
Wait, didn’t they already release an 8″ note?
Or was that a Tab?
What’s the difference? the pen?
I’m so confused
