Looks like Asus is turning up the heat on Microsoft’s Surface Pro with its own Windows 8 tablet-come-laptop thing. The Asus VivoTab packs a 10.1-inch HD screen, a 1.8GHz dual-core ship backed by two-whole-gigs of RAM, and a 64GB SSD. Yours for £400; just £90 extra for the keyboard, ugh. [TechRadar]

Asus Windows 8 Tablets to Start at £400?
Man Sues Microsoft Instead of Just Sticking an SD Card Into His Surface
Asus Vivo Tab HD Review: A Windows 8 Tablet Is Here, but What Do We Do With It?
ummm… thats a pretty dam good price.. Whats the RAM in the Surface Pro?
64gbSSD do you think thats ontop of the OS or should i read this as 50GB SSD? lol
Surface pro has 4gb. I think 2GB is a bit on the low side nowadays. Other than that though it sounds quite promising.
much better!
but which OS is it running….?
just read the Techradar article, it says it’s running Full Windows 8 OS, not the RT version
Well, this is definitely worth it now, i might be interested in saving to buy this…..
“Windows 8 tablet-come-laptop thing”
yeah i did notice the Atom processor, still, it’s a tough one
i think i’ll stick with Windows 7 and my Nexus 7 for the time being
Guessing you mean VM and not native?
This one looks sweet, wonder how well it performs.
According to Trustedreviews it works fine for light work loads (couple of tabs, watching HD video, “Office” stuff) but it uses an Atom processor so it slows down with greater multi-tasking.
Pwns the Surface Pro’s battery life (19hrs with dock, 10 without)
Isn’t this supposed to be running an atom processor? If it is, it will completely destroyed by the i5/i7 in the surface pro.
does office 2013 come preloaded like windows rt devices?
So £490 for an ARM version with a keyboard? Why not just get the VivoBook that’s circa £450,. oh,. and it’s an i3 and hackable to run MacOSX…
No offense here but are you SURE?
The VivoTab RT (packing Windows RT) – is a 10.1 inch system.
The equivalent to the Surface Pro is the plain ol’ VivoTab or TF810c – an 11.6 inch display, which isn’t out in the UK yet, but is on preorder for about £700 without the Dock.
Yup – the TF810C which is the Atom-packing WinPro version is 11.6 inches and will retail around £700.
The £400ish one is the ARM RT version that’s already been out a while.
After spending whole day on damn Windows the last thing I would want is a Windows device at home! Having said that, it’s a good bargain to be honest.
Pretty impressive i like a lot of the products Asus have bought to the table recently.
