As expected, Apple let a 128GB iPad out of the bag today. And there’s almost zero chance you should buy it.
The new iPad has the same retina display as its brothers. And also crap loads of storage. With that much space it’s basically a professional-grade tablet for people like architects and such that have the budget and need that much memory—not for normal folks that just want to load up some movies and are accessing the rest of their media from the cloud. The 128GB tablet of course comes in Wi-Fi-only and cellular data models for £639 and £739 respectively. They come in black and white and you can buy the new iPads starting Tuesday, February 5th. That is if you need that much storage. [Apple via TNW]

Which One Has More Usable Space: the 128GB Surface Pro or the 128GB MacBook Air?
128Gb NAND Chips Promise SD Cards with Terabytes of Storage
"128GB" Microsoft Surface Pro Only Offers 83GB of Usable Space
How can the price be justified, an extra £239 for an extra 112GB storage?
Mad… Absolutely bonkers!
You get to keep more then 60% of that memory
Jokes aside, they should get rid of the 16GB and replace that with the 32GB at the same price as the 16GB, and drop the 128GB to the same price as todays 64GB. I would love to have a 128GB tablet, I only have the 32GB iPad 2 and have a few films and TV shows on it, but I would have plenty more new films on a 128GB one, all HD aswell, But I will never pay that price.
Imagine the quantity of films – especially pornography!
Emmmmmmmm
Exactly…
They’ve just positioned it to cover the Surface Pro…
They can still say it’s the highest (free) capacity tablet.
Perfect for hard core iFanatics and their bragging right, sorry that doesn’t exist anymore.
Seriously? 128gb is a drop in the ocean when it comes to storage. And why architects supposedly need more space than other peeps?
“zero chance you should buy it”? That’s… Not English.
I was thinking the same thing. Hopefully Leslie is British and won’t have to take the citizenship test
Another strangely made up article based on what exactly?
“a professional-grade tablet for people like architects”
Really? So they can load there gigs worth of architectural drawings on it? Really? The same drawings that can hardly open on a desktop without some serious processing power. Really?
Ever used a technical drawing program or 3D program, which really do not exist on the iPad. They are usually designed to use all available processing power and some require a lop of the line graphics card ( or more than one ).
A 128GB iPad is designed for someone with 128GB worth of movies, music and games.
Given an average movie is around 700MB – 1GB and a 720p version and be 4-7GB you could still easily fill the 128GB.
My old apple TV had a 160GB hard drive and I have easily filled that a number of times. Nobody described it as professional grade.
Apparently “professional” means it’s loads more expensive.
Ah, as in only ‘professionals’ can afford it.
Why Wifi Only “of course”?
The above ‘filler’ paragraph must have taken you about a minute to knock up.
But it’s got ’128GB iPad’ in the headline so you can go home now. Good job Leslie. Real professional-like.
