Kickstarter's Pebble Will Be In Your Hands by the End of the Month
Arse! I knew I should have ordered black!
Yeeessss – I think black will be better. But you’ll still have a pretty awesome watch (hopefully!)
I’m reserving judgement until I’ve read a review or two.
Pipe down Sam, I really wish I’d got on in this early on but I missed the boat and now I can’t afford one.
Please give it a rubbish ranking when you review it to stop me feeling even more miserable about missing out.
I loved this from the moment I saw it on Kickstarter, but I’m only going to get one when (a) the Kickstarter preorders have been sent, and (b) the almost inevitable major glitches are found & fixed.
I ordered mine yaaaages ago. Ive not received anything that has asked me to confirm my shipping, and as they only actually have 500 to hand at the moment I dont fancy my chances of getting one here this week!
They also say that they expect there to be a lag of around 7 days getting it to a US distro centre, so god knows when we will get them over here
The ones coming here should ship straight out of Hong Kong, so maybe a little quicker. Or is that just wishful thinking?
Re-reading the e-mail it’s not clear.
However as I seem to recall from an earlier e-mail they’re being made in China not far from Hong Kong, and I’m guessing that the mention of Hong Kong means they’re using FedEx’s base out of Chek Lap Kok, so it’s highly possible that the non-US deliveries will fly straight from there.
I cant see it arriving until at least mid-feb… but im a [pessim/real]ist.
Possibly tainted view based on when they were originally estimated to ship.
Is this where your heart skips a beat every time you see the postman. Maybe it’s here, you think. But no, just the usual junk mail.
Yup. I’m thinking of getting blind drunk then ordering one, hoping I forget I ordered one, then being pleasantly suprised when it arrives.
That won’t work will it?
Was going to get it and then remembered the circle jerk called VAT and customs processing that I have to go through each time I order anything over £20 and thought I’d save myself the grief.
As the Pebble is a reward for investing in them, it is actually a gift which should be marked as such on the packaging. You should not have to pay any tax on it at all. When I received my Equiso, this was the same.
The UK import tax regulation defines a gift as being sent by a “non-commercial character sent from a third country by a private person”. Even if this is true, the maximum value for a gift to be exempt from import tax is only £36. Any other items are exempt from import tax if it is valued at £15 or less.

Come to me, my precious!
It does, kinda look awful though. Horses for courses, some people wear all sorts of ugly shizzle these days.
You could make it look more appealing by giving it a bronze bezel and chunky brown leather strap.
I tried this on at CES. First impression was that it felt a little plasticy and cheap however when I started to play with the features I was very impressed. In my opinion the black one looks the best. The pebble is very light and much much thinner than all the other smart watches I saw at CES. The display is great and easy to read and the strap was a good fit – no one in the room had any size issues with the strap.
Shipping was via Singapore I think then to the US so I’m sure it will take a while to arrive in the UK
I somehow completely missed every mention of this watch until last week when I checked out the kickstarter page and realised someone was making exactly what I was looking for since I got my first decent smartphone.
I’m guessing with the ridiculous amount of preorders that have been taken I’ll be lucky to get mine in April.
Ordered red btw. I figured black would make the black of the watch face washed out. White would make the white of the watchface look grey. Grey would be good but as it’s see through kinda plastic it looks cheap… Red is the best of the rest.
