If there’s one thing undeniable about the iPhone it’s that its touchscreen is seriously accurate. That’s bloody important when you’re smashing through texts at 100mph on that touchscreen keyboard, and probably why Apple’s rumoured to be looking at a new, even more accurate touchscreen tech for the iPhone 5S.
The iPhone 5 itself came with new in-cell touchscreen tech, which enabled the display and touchscreen layer to be combined, reducing the display thickness and providing an even more anorexic phone. The problem was the in-cell tech has been causing some touchscreen recognition glitches on some iPhone 5s. So it would make sense if Apple was to look at other tech like the ‘touch-on display’, especially if it’s more accurate and just as durable. [China Times via Apple Insider]

On the iPhone 5 I always have a problem with the right hand side of the screen, it doesn’t recognized my commands and I sit there jamming at it like an idiot trying to get the letter, or icon I wanted.
Really? Hmm, I haven’t noticed that. Maybe you should take it into an Apple store, think you might have a dodgy unit
He’s obviously holding it wrong.
It’s not a problem for anyone else in my office, just me, so it must be just me. But I don’t have the problem with my Samsung Galaxy S3 or my Nokia Windows Phone.
I was also looking forward to using Apples famous keyboard, and found I prefer the Samsung’s stock keyboard more. I came to the Apple party quite late and so far I’m not a huge fan.
So it only happens to you on your phone? You need to conduct more electricity dude
For me, there’s nothing quite as good as Apple’s stock iOS keyboard. I can nail about twice as many words per minute on that thing than any other, and I’ve used them all (not that the others are crap by any stretch of the imagination though).
Same phone, noone else in the office has a problem with it. And for me it’s just the right hand side of the screen.
I think I’m just more use to the other phones and keyboards. I tend to use them more than the Apple as I’ve had them longer.
I’m actually pretty trained in typing without looking on my iPhone keyboard, shame I can’t put 60wpm (blind, iOs Keyboard) on my C.V
Yeah, me too. But have you ever looked at the un-autocorrected text? Hilarious.
I’ve watched how “lole” turns into “Like” and how “Sumsrsntiated” turns into “Substantiated” the way it works out the different word groupings and provides the right word every time is amazing, tried the same with my Nexus 7 and it seems to just stick with the first letter and if it isn’t in there it gives up… No H8 @DarrellJones
I see a pattern emerging of “s” to resell unsatisfied iDevice owners, nice milking trick by Apple, worked last time with 4s but not sure about the next!
I’m not worried about the phone being thinner personally. IMO I would prefer they made it as thick as the iPhone 4/4S again, and put the extra space into a bigger battery!
A proliferation of pro-Apple “might” and “will it” speculative articles (sic) on Giz? CES must be nearing….
i am happy with iphone 5 and i will wait for iphone 6
