Today’s XKCD puts the success of Amazon.com into some perspective. Because I can’t do any better than Randall Monroe’s hilarious alt text:
“Amazon.com took a surprise early lead with ‘Time required to transport a package from Iquitos, Peru to Manaus, Brazil’ but then lost it at ‘Minutes to skeletonize a cow’.”
Time to pick up your game if you want to take over the world, Jeff. [XKCD]

I didn’t get it.
I am glad I am not the only one
Amaozon river = 22,000 cubic metres of output per second. Amazon.com? 0.9!
And clearly I didn’t get it either – Amazon river = 220,000 cubic metres output per second. Amazon.com 0.9!
/facepalm
ahh right ok i didn’t think of the river
me too, went completely over my head
It’s funnier with the alt Title
“Amazon.com took a surprise early lead with ‘Time required to transport a package from Iquitos, Peru to Manaus, Brazil’ but then lost it at ‘Minutes to skeletonize a cow’.”
He’s referring to the Amazon river, which flows past Iquitos and Manaus, and it contains piranhas.
Bloody hell, in the time it took me to post that, about 10 people piped up. Do you people just watch over this blog like hawks?
Yup. We’ve got nothing better to do at work…
what else is there to do but hang around the water cooler of Gizmodo and catch the gossip
much better than the water cooler in my office, here its just shoes and dresses, I am more into science than women’s fashion, unless its from the lingerie section and the woman is coming towards me and….. shit I will will stop there and read another article.
I don’t get it even after reading the comments.
Thankyou for including the alt text.
Everyone still calls this the alt text, but it is in fact the title attribute. Alt text doesn’t appear on hover anymore in any modern browsers.
Just sayin’…
I’m still using Netscape navigator.
