Twitter just got more GIF-friendly, by introducing Vine, a new video-sharing service for clips that are six seconds or less.
Vine is an iOS app that captures both motion and sound. Translation: GIFs with sound that you can post to Twitter. The obvious question is why isn’t Vine just integrated into Twitter? Since Twitter bought Vine, we’re going to assume that will be the case eventually. For now it’s just a fun new GIF making app that plays nice with your tweets. Twitter Just Outlawed Animated GIF Avatars
6 seconds is no good, on ther other hand, 15 seconds should suffice
Oof. Referring to a video as a .gif on a technology website.
That’s a kick in the graphics interchange format.
So its a short video? which would make it definitely not a .gif …right?!
I think Gizmodo should create a “one espresso shot before each post” policy. Some writers seem to be posting before their minds finish booting…
Again with this bizarre GIF obsession Giz, This is not a GIF, nor anything like a GIF. In fact it probably has a smaller file size than an equivalent GIF and is thus better.
Please stop writing articles. Most people who use this site come for accurate tech reports. If you dont know the difference between a .gif file and a short video don’t write about it. GHD’s new hair curlers might be a good new section to start at.
Of course we know the difference. We’re likening Vine to GIFs, in that they’re short moving pictures.
