Whatever your opinion on the whole smartwatch thing is, don’t worry/get excited; this isn’t real. This is just a concept design called “Google Time” by Adrian Maciburko. That said, they look kind of, well, nice.
Of course for a smartwatch to be any good it’d also have to work well, unlike some others we’ve seen. But Google Now, with its attempts (and reasonable success) at getting to know you better than you know yourself, you could get something that’s actually interesting. So what do you say, would you be at all interested in a Google Smartwatch like this? You know, if it actually existed. [Adrian Maciburko via The Next Web]

“they look kind of, well, nice”
Nope, they don’t. They look chunky and ungainly, not to mention horribly uncool.
If you’re in your 40s and still like to wear a bum bag and white socks up to your knees, then sure, knock yourself out.
For the rest of us though, I’m pretty sure this isn’t going to catch on.
Also, in the real world, walking around with a big flashy fancy colour screen strapped to your wrist is pretty much saying “rob me”. Yeah, I know, it’s a concept….it’s just it’s not one worth spending any more time on.
Soz.
dont you dare diss the bum bag and white socks, now where did i put my knitted checkered tank top
Yes, because you are the god of fashion, and in the alternative universe that you live in, fashion never changes. Oh and if anyone doesn’t conform to your image of coolness, they must be losers who can never get a date.
I don’t think I would come to you for fashion advice.
I guess you gotta have some BALLS to wear a “big flashy fancy colour screen” outside..
something most of us clearly have ..
Not if I can have the same functionality on my Google Glass.
No, no I would not.
I quite like the round version personally, the square design is ridiculous but something similar to the lower designs I’d wear.
That said I have never been one for fashion or ‘coolness’.
I’d probably wear a forearm watch that took up half my forearm, but having such a small and easily stolen piece of tech in open sight seems stupid to me.
Oh hey google glasses. . .
I pride myself on being the hippest motherfucker in town, and I’d wear the shit outa one of those badboys.
RE: paranoid people, you say that like people don’t already wear watches worth £££. WHAT EVEN IS THAT ARGUMENT I DON’T EVEN……………
Which town?
every town.
Personally I’m waiting for Google Glass (the contact lens version)
Didn’t Apple release a watch strap for their square iPod Nano which was pretty much identical to this? Ergo already exists; didn’t catch on.
iPod Nano is a music player with a clock functionality.
This concept is a “smart” watch which could actually provide useful information.
Ergo, they’re different products; might catch on.
