You Can Thank Galileo For This Marvelous Modern Clock

By Leslie Horn on at

Galileo was the first to think to use a pendulum as a time keeper in 1637. An actual clock using the precise weighted mechanism was patented in 1656 by Dutch scientist Christiaan Huygens. Roughly 350 years later, Christian Kim has reinterpreted the classic ticker with the modern Pendulum clock for Zwilling.

Unless you're an antiques enthusiast or you inherited a grandfather clock from your great aunt, you might not settle on a piece made of oak filled with all kinds of gears and needs regular maintenance. But this current version is a nod to the past, and it doesn't require excommunication from the Catholic church. [Christian Kim via Design-Milk]
